It\u2019s holiday season and, having just come back from holiday myself, I started thinking about all of the phrases I used to communicate to the locals in different situations. There are many excellent posts in the blog archives on specific areas of holidays, like booking a hotel room in German, or how to navigate a German airport. In this refresher post I\u2019m going to give you some helpful travel\/holiday phrases which you can use when you go to a German-speaking country, but I\u2019m also going to link you to the various, <strong>existing<\/strong> posts on holiday\/travel topics, so we have a <strong>big resource<\/strong> for everything holiday-related in one place. I hope this will help you to filter through what you need and don&#8217;t need. \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Note that I am using the formal greetings rather than the informal, because on your travels you\u2019ll be talking to people you don\u2019t know. <em>Where is the train station, please?<\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Liberation Serif, serif\">Alternatively, you can <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Liberation Serif, serif\">omit the request for help and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Liberation Serif, serif\">launch straight into your question by starting with an <strong>\u2018Entschuldigung\u2019 (excuse me)<\/strong>, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Liberation Serif, serif\">to make it more polite!<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Liberation Serif, serif\"> Here are a few examples of things you might ask:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Liberation Serif, serif\"><strong>Excuse me, where is &lt;hotel name&gt;, please?<\/strong> &#8211;
