\u201cWhy you are the right person for our vacant position?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

K\u00fcrzlich habe ich mein Studium an der Universit\u00e4t beendet.<\/span> (I have recently finished my university studies.)<\/span> Jetzt studiere ich Stellenasuschreibungen und Ratschl\u00e4ge, wie man sich f\u00fcr diese Jobs bewirbt, um einen von ihnen ans Land zu ziehen.<\/span> (Now I study job advertisements and advices for how to apply for these jobs in order to land one of them.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Das wichtigste, was ich gelernt habe ist, dass die Suche nach einer Stelle, ein Fulltime-Job ist, einschlie\u00dflich dem Anfertigen von Bewerbungsunterlagen, wie Anschreiben und Lebenslauf.<\/span> (The most important thing I have learned so far is that looking for a position is a full-time job, including the drawing up of application documents, such as letter of application and r\u00e9sum\u00e9.)<\/span> Und als ob das nicht schon genug w\u00e4re: NEIN! Das Internet ist auch noch \u00fcberflutet mit n\u00fctzlichen Ratschl\u00e4gen und sachdienlichen Tipps, wie man es richtig macht.<\/span> (And as if this wasn\u2019t enough: NO! The Internet is overrun with useful advices and relevant tips how to do it right.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Und es gibt sogar viele verschiedene Richtiges.<\/span> (And there are even many different rights.)<\/span> Was in einem Ratgeber als absolutes Muss angef\u00fchrt ist, wird in einem anderen vors\u00e4tzlich verschwiegen.<\/span> (What one advice page quotes as an absolute must-do is deliberately withheld in another.)<\/span> H\u00f6chste Zeit f\u00fcr mich, eine kleine Bestandsaufnahme \u00fcber meiner Erkenntnisse zu machen.<\/span> (It\u2019s about time for me to take a little stock of my insights.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Wenn man sich in Deutschland f\u00fcr einen Job bewerben m\u00f6chte, geh\u00f6ren das Anschreiben und der Lebenlauf zu den Grundlagen einer jeden Bewerbung.<\/span> (If you want to apply for a job in Germany, the letter of application and r\u00e9sum\u00e9 provide the basis for every application.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Deutsche Autoren von Bewerbungstipps streiten sich dar\u00fcber, ob nun das Anschreiben oder der Lebenslauf das Herzst\u00fcck einer Bewerbung ist.<\/span> (German authors of advices for application argue whether letter or the r\u00e9sum\u00e9 is the core of you application.)<\/span> Meine Ansicht ist, dass beides gleich wichtig ist<\/span>. (My point of view is that both are important to the same extend.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Das Anschreiben<\/span> \u2013 letter of application <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Das Anschreiben dient dazu, dem zuk\u00fcnftigen Arbeitgeber zu erkl\u00e4ren, warum man ihn kontaktiert bzw. warum man ihm seinen Lebenslauf schickt.<\/span> (The letter of application serves to let your future employer know why you contact him or why you are sending him your r\u00e9sum\u00e9.)<\/span> Mit anderen Worten, es dient dazu die eigenen Absichten deutlich herauszustellen, dass man sich konkret f\u00fcr einen Job bewirbt und zu erkl\u00e4ren warum man f\u00fcr diese Stelle in Frage kommt.<\/span> (In other words, it serves to expose one\u2019s intention that you apply for a particular job and to explain why you are the right person for the vacancy.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Der Lebenslauf<\/span> \u2013 r\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ich empfehle mit dem Lebenslauf zu beginnen, da man so die M\u00f6glichkeit hat, zu reflektieren welche Stationen seines Lebens man schon hinter sich gebracht hat und \u00fcber welche F\u00e4higkeiten man verf\u00fcgt.<\/span> (I suggest to begin with your r\u00e9sum\u00e9 because it gives you the chance to reflect which stations you have passed in your life so far and what skills you have.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Die Anordnung der einzelnen Lebensstationen erfolg chronologisch.<\/span> (The single stages of life are to arrange chronologically.)<\/span> Fr\u00fcher war es \u00fcblich, dass man mit dem am weitest zur\u00fcckliegenden Ereignis beginnt.<\/span> (It used to be common practice to begin with the incident that is dated back the farthest.)<\/span> Diese Form ist heute immer noch akzeptiert, jedoch setzt sich die amerikanische Form mehr und mehr durch.<\/span> (This form is still accepted but the American form becomes more and more prevalent.)<\/span> Das hei\u00dft, man beginnt mit dem aktuellsten und arbeitet sich dann weiter in die Vergangenheit.<\/span> (That is, you begin with which is most up to date and work your way through into the past.)<\/span><\/p>\n
