Be sure to read <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/zeit-fur-eine-geschichte-teil-1\/\">part 1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/zeit-fur-eine-geschichte-teil-2-der-anruf\/\">part 2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/zeit-fur-eine-geschichte-teil-3-die-morgendammerung\/\">part 3<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/zeit-fur-eine-geschichte-teil-4-der-pinkfarbene-regenschirm\/\">part 4<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>first!<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Max caught the bus for his appointment at the eye doctor&#8217;s. In the bus, he liked to do some people watching. He was very curious about an older man in the bus, who had\u00a0a pink umbrella, and a Dalmatian &#8211; a strange combination! Max was too curious to just watch, and decided to ask the man what&#8217;s up with that dog and that umbrella.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Kapitel 5<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Max steht auf und geht auf den Mann zu. Da der Bus ziemlich viel wackelt, braucht er die Haltestangen um sich fest zu halten. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Als Max vor dem alten Herrn steht, r\u00fchrt er sich nicht. Vorsichtig spricht Max ihn an: \u00bbguten Morgen, ich hoffe, ich st\u00f6re nicht.\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Der alte Mann erschrickt, und schaut auf. Sein Schrecken \u00e4ndert sich in ein L\u00e4cheln. \u00bbHallo! Nein, Sie st\u00f6ren \u00fcberhaupt nicht. Bitte, setzen Sie sich doch!\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Max nimmt Platz neben dem Mann und ist dabei vorsichtig, dass er dem Dalmatiner nicht auf den Schwanz tritt. Er ist \u00fcberrascht, wie freundlich und einladend der \u00e4ltere Herr ist.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbVielen Dank! Sie brauchen mich nicht zu <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/the-german-you-duzen-und-siezen\/\">siezen<\/a>. Sie k\u00f6nnen mich auch <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/the-german-you-duzen-und-siezen\/\">duzen<\/a>. Ich hei\u00dfe Max!\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbEinverstanden. Ich bin Heinrich, und ich bitte dich, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/the-german-you-duzen-und-siezen\/\">duze <\/a>mich auch. Sonst f\u00fchle ich mich so alt! Also, Max, <\/em>what&#8217;s up?<em>\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s up? <em>Solche Umgangssprache hat Max nicht erwartet. Ein wenig verwirrt, versucht er zu erkl\u00e4ren wieso er zu Heinrich gekommen ist.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbIch habe dich beobachtet, und fragte mich&#8230;\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Max wei\u00df nicht, wie er Heinrich fragen soll, dass er den Regenschirm ein bisschen verr\u00fcckt findet. Vielleicht mag er einfach nur die Farbe? <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbJa ja, ich verstehe schon. Du fragst dich was ich mit einem pinkfarbenen Regenschirm mache, was?\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbRichtig! Ja\u2026 Also, ja, schon&#8230; bemerkenswert!\u00ab erwidert Max.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbIch gehe zu einer Brustkrebsveranstaltung im Stadtzentrum. Pink ist ja die Farbe f\u00fcr die Brustkrebsbek\u00e4mpfung.\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbAha! Das erkl\u00e4rt es.\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbUnd wohin f\u00e4hrst du?\u00ab fragt Heinrich.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbIch habe einen Termin beim Augenarzt. Ich muss einen Augentest machen f\u00fcr meinen F\u00fchrerschein, da ich genug Sehst\u00e4rke brauche um ohne Sehhilfe autofahren zu d\u00fcrfen.\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Der Bus bleibt stehen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbHier muss ich raus!\u00ab sagt Max, und springt auf. \u00bbDanke f\u00fcr das Gespr\u00e4ch, und die Aufkl\u00e4rung. Viel Erfolg bei der Krebsveranstaltung!\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00bbDanke! Ich w\u00fcnsche dir viel Erfolg beim Augenarzt! Hoffentlich brauchst du keine Brille!\u00ab ruft Heinrich Max hinterher. Er ist schon aus dem Bus gesprungen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Die T\u00fcren schlie\u00dfen sich, und der Bus f\u00e4hrt weiter. Und Max rennt weiter. Because the bus shakes quite a lot, he needs the grab poles to hold himself.<\/p>\n<p>When Max stands before the old man, he does not move. Carefully, Max addresses him: &#8220;good morning, I hope, I am not disturbing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The old man is frightened, and looks up. His fright changes into a smile. &#8220;Hello! No, you do not disturb at all. Please, have a seat!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Max sits down next to the man and is careful, that he does not step on the Dalmatian&#8217;s tail. He is surprised how friendly and welcoming the older man is.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thank you! You do not have to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/the-german-you-duzen-und-siezen\/\">siezen <\/a><\/em>(address somebody with the formal <em>Sie<\/em>) me. You may also <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/the-german-you-duzen-und-siezen\/\">duzen <\/a><\/em>(address somebody with the informal <em>du<\/em>) me.\u00a0 I am called Max!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Agreed. I am Heinrich, and I ask you, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/german\/the-german-you-duzen-und-siezen\/\">duze <\/a><\/em>me too. Otherwise I feel so old! So, Max, what&#8217;s up?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s up? Max did not expect such vernacular. A little confused, he tries to explain why he approached Heinrich.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I watched you, and wondered\u2026&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Max doesn&#8217;t know how to ask Heinrich that he finds his umbrella a bit crazy. Maybe he just likes the color?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes yes, I get it already. You wonder what I am doing with a pink umbrella, right?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Exactly! Yes&#8230; Well, yes, it <em>is<\/em>&#8230; exceptional!&#8221; Max replied.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am going to a breast cancer event in the city center. Pink is of course the color for breast cancer control.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ah! That explains it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And where are you going?&#8221; Heinrich asks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have an appointment with the eye doctor. I have to do an eye test for my driver&#8217;s license, since I need enough vision to be allowed to drive without vision aid.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The bus stops.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have to get off here!&#8221; Max says, and jumps up. &#8220;Thank you for the talk, and clearing it up. Good luck at the cancer event!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thanks! I wish you good luck at the eye doctor&#8217;s! Hopefully, you don&#8217;t need glasses!&#8221; Heinrich shouts after Max. He already jumped out of the bus.<\/p>\n<p>The doors close, and the bus drives on. And max runs further.
