\nThis one isn\u2019t too difficult. The nearest equivalent would be toiletry bag<\/strong> or wash bag<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Although it\u2019s not quite as exciting a word as Alkoholleiche<\/a>, Gem\u00fctlichkeit<\/a> or Nervens\u00e4ge<\/a>, some of the other untranslatable words I\u2019ve previously covered, Kulturbeutel<\/strong> is interesting due to its literal translation. Broadly speaking, when you refer to someone as \u2018cultured\u2019 (gebildet<\/em> or kultiviert<\/em> in German) you are saying they are well-educated, and enjoy things like art, theatre, music, museums and travel. There is also a certain assumption that cultured people take pride in their appearance. Etymologically speaking, the word Kultur<\/strong><\/em> comes from the Latin cultura<\/strong><\/em>, which means to care for\/groom<\/strong><\/em> (pflegen<\/em> in German), so the idea of being cultured and caring for your appearance are more connected than you think!<\/p>\n

Another, similar German word is die K\u00f6rperkultur<\/strong> (literally \u2018body culture\u2019), which refers to personal hygiene and\/or care. With this in mind, the word Kulturbeutel makes perfect sense!<\/p>\n
