It was a very busy week for me. Therefore, there will be two Kapitel this week! One today, and one in the weekend. Happy reading!

Two weeks ago, Max was on the bus and spoke to the mysterious man with the pink umbrella and the Dalmatian. As it turns out, he was on his way to a breast cancer event. The bus ride went faster than Max thought, and he arrives at his stop for the eye doctor’s, and jumps off the bus. What happens next?

Kapitel 6

Alles in Ordnung!

»Hallo! It is just as cold outside as before, when Max got on the bus. The sun has already risen further, and she slowly the light illuminates the city. Though Max sees clouds approaching. It will snow!

He walks around the corner, and sees the door to the eye doctor’s practice in front of him. He rings, the door opens, and Max enters. It is much warmer here! He takes off his leather jacket and hangs it on the clothes tree.

At the welcome desk, Max tells the assistent: “I have an appointment with Dr. Jauch at nine o’clock.”

“That’s right! It is for a vision test, right?” the assistant asks.

“Exactly. I need it for my driver’s license.”

“OK. Do you have your health insurance card with you?”

Max takes his wallet out of his pants pocket and shows the card to the assistant. It is briefly scanned and given back to Max. Everything’s in order! Max takes a seat in the waiting room.

Except for Max, the waiting room is empty. He won’t have to wait too long, then! Through the window Max sees that it has started to snow.

The room is already decorated festively for Christmas, even if it’s still one whole month until Christmas. Kitsch reindeer figures sit on the table. A small Christmas tree stands in the corner, decorated with red and white balls. A Christmas garland hangs from the door.

Max grabs a magazine and, bored, browses through it. How do you prepare yourself for the big celebration? 10 tips for the perfect Christmas celebration!, Max reads. He likes Christmas, but all this stuff for weeks, even months before the celebration is too much for him.

“Hi! Nice, to see you!”

Dr. Jauch is standing in the door. He smiles at Max. He has already heard this joke many times. Dr. Jauch always makes it, when Max is there!

Back in the days, Max came more often, together with his father. He had to go to the eye doctor often, because he had eye problems. He was terribly scared to go blind. Fortunately, everything is fine now, and he can still see. He needs very strong glasses for that, however!

Max gets up and follows the doctor to the practice room. He is a bit nervous. His eyes are good, right?

SOME WORDS TO KEEP IN MIND

der Kleiderständer

clothes hanger, clothes tree

genauso … wie [vergl.]

just as … as [comp.]

Stimmt!

That’s right!

genau

exactly

Alles in Ordnung!

Everything is in order!

Alles in Ordnung?

Are you alright?
