Last week, Max made the\u00a0Kalter Hund\u00a0<\/em>(hedgehog slice) for Laura and is getting a little nervous. He wonders what they will talk about, what she will think about him and how the date will be. And then suddenly, the bell rings… Who is that?
\nKapitel 10<\/strong><\/em>
\n Vorsichtshalber steckt Max die Rose in seine Jackentasche. Er will Laura ja damit \u00fcberraschen. Und wenn sie das ist\u2026<\/em>
\n Max geht zur Haust\u00fcr und \u00f6ffnet sie. Und da steht Laura. Jetzt schon! Aber sie ist echt gekommen!<\/em>
\n \u00bbGuten Abend, Max! Wie geht’s dir?\u00ab fragt sie.<\/em>
\n \u00bbMir geht’s gut! Sch\u00f6n, dich zu sehen! Du bist fr\u00fch! Wie geht’s dir?\u00ab<\/em>
\n \u00bbMir geht’s ausgezeichnet. Ja, ich hoffe, das macht nichts? Ich freue mich auf heute Abend!\u00ab<\/em>
\n \u00bbNein, das passt mir eigentlich auch besser so! Ich freue mich auch! Komm’ doch rein!\u00ab erwidert Max.<\/em>
\n \u00bbDas Essen ist eine kleine \u00dcberraschung. Ich hoffe, es macht dir nichts, was S\u00fc\u00dfes zu essen?\u00ab<\/em>
\n \u00bb\u00dcberhaupt nicht! Im gegenteil, ich h\u00e4tte gern was S\u00fc\u00dfes.\u00ab<\/em>
\n Super! Da ist der Kalte Hund ja ein Volltreffer.<\/em>
\n \u00bbIch freue mich auch schon auf den Weihnachtsmarkt!\u00ab sagt Max aufgeregt.<\/em>
\n \u00bbJa, ich mich auch! Wir m\u00fcssen unbedingt Eislaufen!\u00ab<\/em>
\n Max wird ein wenig nerv\u00f6s. Er m\u00f6chte gern Eislaufen, aber er hat es sehr lange nicht mehr gemacht. Er ist sich nicht sicher ob er es noch kann.<\/em>
\n Sie gehen in die K\u00fcche. \u00bbSetz dich doch hin!\u00ab sagt Max. Laura setzt sich.<\/em>
\n Er \u00f6ffnet den K\u00fchlschrank und holt das Backblech vorsichtig raus.<\/em>
\n \u00bbTada!\u00ab Max pr\u00e4sentiert Laura den Kalten Hund.<\/em>
\n \u00bbMein Lieblingsessen! Wahnsinn! Habe ich das letzte Woche erw\u00e4hnt? Ah ja, ich erinnere mich. Mensch, und du hast das behalten! Danke, Max!\u00ab Laura ist begeistert.<\/em>
\n \u00bbGerne! Ich schneide dir ein St\u00fcck ab.\u00ab<\/em>
\n Max stellt das Blech auf den Tisch und holt ein Messer aus der Schublade. Servietten und Teller hatte er schon fr\u00fcher auf den Tisch gelegt.<\/em>
\n Er gibt Laura das St\u00fcck und sieht sie hoffnungsvoll an.<\/em>
\n \u00bbHmmm, Max! Was hast du damit gemacht? Das ist der beste Kalte Hund, den ich jemals gegessen hab’!\u00ab<\/em>
\n \u00bbNichts Besonderes. Ich habe das Rezept online gefunden.\u00ab<\/em>
\n \u00bbSchmeckt sehr gut, auf jeden Fall.\u00ab<\/em>
\n \u00bbUnd, wie findest du die Uni bis jetzt?\u00ab fragt Laura.<\/em>
\n \u00bbBesser als erwartet. Ich dachte, das wird so langweilig wie das Gymnasium!\u00ab<\/em>
\n Sie lachen.<\/em><\/p>\n

Nach dem f\u00fcnften St\u00fcck Kalten Hundes stehen sie auf.<\/em>
\n \u00bbIch bin so satt!\u00ab seufzt Laura.<\/em>
\n \u00bbIch auch! Wie w\u00e4r\u2019s mit einem kleinen Verdauungsspaziergang zum Weihnachtsmarkt?\u00ab seufzt auch Max.<\/em>
\n \u00bbGute Idee!\u00ab<\/em>
\n Sie ziehen ihre Jacken und Handschuhe an. Max setzt sich seine M\u00fctze auf, und Laura ihre Ohrw\u00e4rmer. Max \u00f6ffnet die T\u00fcr, und beide sp\u00fcren die kalte Luft im Gesicht. Der wei\u00dfe Schnee und die schwarze Nacht formen einen wundersch\u00f6nen Kontrast.<\/em>
\n Und die Rose? Die steckt noch in Max\u2018 Jackentasche.<\/em>
\n Auf geht\u2019s, zum Weihnachtsmarkt.<\/em><\/p>\n

THE TRANSLATION<\/span>
\nChapter 10<\/strong>
\nTo be on the safe side, Max puts the rose in the pocket of his jacket. In the end, he wants to surprise Laura with the rose. And if that\u2019s her\u2026
\nMax walks to the house door and opens it. And there is Laura. Already! But she really came!
\n\u201cGood evening, Max! How are you?\u201d she asks.
\n\u201cI\u2019m fine! Good to see you! You are early! How are you?\u201d
\n\u201cI am superb. Yes, I hope, you don\u2019t mind? I am looking forward to tonight!\u201d
\n\u201cNo, it suits me better too, actually! I am looking forward to it too! Come in!\u201d Max replies.
\n\u201cThe food is a little surprise. I hope, you don\u2019t mind to eat something sweet?\u201d
\n\u201cAbsolutely not! To the contrary, I would love to have something sweet.\u201d
\nAwesome! Then the hedgehog slice surely is a bull\u2019s eye.
\n\u201cI am already looking forward to the Christmas market!\u201d Max says excitedly.
\n\u201cYes, me too! We absolutely have to go ice-skating!\u201d
\nMax is getting a little nervous. I would love to go ice-skating, but he hasn\u2019t done it in a very long time.
\nHe is not sure whether he can still do it.
\nThey walk into the kitchen. \u201cHave a seat!\u201d Max says. Laura sits down.
\nHe opens the fridge and carefully takes out the baking sheet.
\n\u201cTa-da!\u201d Max presents the hedgehog slice to Laura.
\n\u201cMy favorite dish! Awesome! Did I mention that last week? Oh yeah, I remember. Gosh, and you remembered that! Thanks, Max!\u201d Laura is thrilled.
\n\u201cYou\u2019re welcome! I\u2019ll cut you a piece.\u201d
\nMax puts the sheet on the table and takes a knife out of the drawer. Napkins and plates he already put on the table before.
\nHe gives Laura the piece and hopefully looks at her.
\n\u201cHmmm, Max! What did you do with that? That\u2019s the best hedgehog slice that I have ever eaten!\u201d
\n\u201cNothing special. I found the recipe online.\u201d
\n\u201cIt tastes very good, in any case.\u201d
\n\u201cWell, how do you like uni so far?\u201d Laura asks.
\n\u201cBetter than expected. I thought, it would be as boring as high school!\u201d
\nThey laugh.<\/p>\n

After the fifth piece hedgehog slice they get up.
\n\u201cI am so full!\u201d Laura sighs.
\n\u201cMe too! What about a small after-dinner walk to the Christmas market?\u201d Max sighs, too.
\n\u201cGood idea!\u201d
\nThey put on their jackets and gloves. Max dons his beanie, and Laura her ear warmers. Max opens the door, and both feel the cold air in their faces. The white snow and the black night form a beautiful contrast.
\nAnd the rose? It\u2019s still in Max\u2019 jacket pocket.<\/p>\n
