Last week I finished my Ausbildung<\/strong> (education) to become a fitness instructor and had to say goodbye to my classmates that I\u2019ve spent almost every day with for the past three years! We had an Abschiedsfeier<\/strong> (leaving party) and after having to say goodbye to everyone it inspired me to write a post about the word \u201cgoodbye\u201d.<\/p>\n

In German there are many different ways how to say goodbye. Here is a vocabulary list so you know exactly what to say at the right time:<\/p>\n

Tsch\u00fcss<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 bye \u2013 a short and casual way of saying bye<\/p>\n

Auf Wiedersehen \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>see you again soon \u2013 \u201cwieder\u201d<\/strong> meaning \u201eagain\u201cand \u201csehen\u201d<\/strong> meaning “to see”<\/p>\n

Auf Wiederh\u00f6ren<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 speak to you soon \u2013 \u201choren\u201d<\/strong> means \u201cto hear\u201d, this would be used if you are telephoning with someone.<\/p>\n
