Guten Tag! As the festive season is upon us, we\u2019ll all be wishing each other a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or other seasonal greetings. There are so many special events in life, and certain phrases that are fitting for them. We all know that Merry Christmas is Frohe Weihnachten<\/strong> in German, but what about ways to say \u2018My condolences\u2019, \u2018All the best\u2019, and \u2018Good luck\u2019 – and the occasions you want to use these for? Here are a bunch of phrases you can use in Gru\u00dfkarten<\/strong> (greeting cards), emails, and in conversation!<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start with phrases relating to the Christmas season.<\/p>\n

You probably know how to say Happy Birthday (Alles Gute zum Geburtstag<\/strong> \/ <\/span>Herzlichen Gl<\/span>\u00fc<\/span>ckwunsch <\/span><\/strong>zum Geburtstag<\/strong>) but what if you\u2019<\/span>re a bit late with your greetings and<\/span> want to say \u2018Happy belated birthday\u2019?<\/strong> The German phrase for that is either: Gl<\/strong><\/span>\u00fc<\/span><\/strong>cklicher versp\u00e4teter Geburtstag<\/strong> or N<\/b>achtr\u00e4glich<\/strong> a<\/b>lles Gute zum Geburtstag<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

If you simply want to say congratulations, you can say Herzlichen Gl\u00fc<\/span>ckwunsch <\/span><\/strong>(Congratulations<\/em>)<\/span> or, more informally, Gratuliere<\/strong> (congrats<\/em>)<\/span>!
