Guten Tag! Today I\u2019m going to give you some words and phrases to use if you want to rate or review something in German. This may come in useful if you\u2019re purchasing a product in Germany and want to leave a review, or if you\u2019re buying from a German-speaking website or place and want to understand what the reviews say before you buy it. I hope this will be useful. Let\u2019s get started!<\/p>\n

Here are a selection of words and phrases you may see to describe something in a positive light:<\/p>\n

Passt<\/strong> \u2013 This might mean something literally ‘fits’ (eg. if it’s an item of clothing), or it might be a very chilled out way of saying something is good\/fine\/no problems.<\/p>\n

Zufrieden<\/strong> \u2013 Happy, satisfied<\/p>\n

Super<\/strong> \u2013 super (we don\u2019t use this word as often in English as the Germans do!)<\/p>\n

Super zufrieden<\/strong> \u2013 Very happy<\/p>\n

Rundum zufrieden<\/strong> \u2013 Happy overall<\/p>\n

Gerne wieder<\/strong> \u2013 Would buy from you again (\u2018happily again\u2019)<\/p>\n

Alles in Ordnung<\/strong> \u2013 Everything is fine\/in working order<\/p>\n

Alles gut<\/strong> \u2013 All good<\/p>\n

Gute Ware<\/strong> \u2013 Top product<\/p>\n

Top Artikel<\/strong> \u2013 Top product<\/p>\n

Hohe\/gute Qualit\u00e4<\/span><\/strong>t<\/strong> \u2013 High\/good quality<\/span><\/p>\n

Klasse<\/strong> \u2013 Not to be confused with the English word \u2018classy\u2019, the German \u2018Klasse\u2019 is another way of saying something is really great<\/p>\n

Zu empfehlen\/empfehlenswert<\/strong> \u2013 Recommended<\/p>\n

Preis\/Leistung gut<\/strong> \u2013 Good value for money<\/p>\n

1A<\/strong> \u2013 A+. If you see someone giving a rating of ‘1A’, they are giving the top grade – like an A+ or 5 stars.<\/p>\n

Klare Kaufempfehlung<\/strong> \u2013 A clear recommendation, a no-brainer.<\/p>\n

\nSchlechter Kundenservice<\/strong> \u2013 Bad customer service
\nSchlechte Qualit<\/strong><\/span>\u00e4<\/span><\/strong>t<\/strong> \u2013 Bad quality
\nSchon kaputt<\/strong> \u2013 Broken already
\nEin komischer Geruch<\/strong> \u2013 A funny smell
\nGeht nicht<\/strong> \u2013 Doesn\u2019t work
\nNicht wie beschrieben<\/strong> \u2013 Not as described
\nZu kurz, zu lang, zu klein, zu gro<\/strong><\/span>\u00df<\/span><\/strong> (etc.)<\/strong> – too short, too long, too small, too big (etc. – when you see the word \u2018zu\u2019 followed by an adjective, the reviewer is saying the product is \u2018too much\u2019 of something)<\/span><\/p>\n
