{"id":1396,"date":"2014-04-29T16:38:50","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T16:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/greek\/?p=1396"},"modified":"2014-04-29T16:38:50","modified_gmt":"2014-04-29T16:38:50","slug":"building-vocabulary-with-mind-maps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/greek\/building-vocabulary-with-mind-maps\/","title":{"rendered":"Building vocabulary with mind maps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are many techniques used while learning new vocabulary, some of which are cloze activites, memorization, use of flashcards, word dominos, use of the new word in sentences, and the list goes on.<br \/>\nMind maps can also be an effective technique that\u00a0 helps\u00a0 learners face the challenge of \u201cdigesting\u201d the new vocabulary by making connections in a non-linear way.<br \/>\nBasically, a mind map is a diagram that is created on the basis of a\u00a0 main idea, or-in the case of vocabulary-\u00a0 a keyword, and with the use of colors, shapes, images or graphics, it connects the keyword to other\u00a0 words or phrases. It can be very sophisticated with graphics and colors, or less detailed,\u00a0 handwritten or made by the means of an app. The only limit is one\u2019s imagination.<br \/>\nBelow, there is an example of a very basic mind map focused on the keyword <strong>\u03b4\u03c9\u03bc\u03ac\u03c4\u03b9\u03bf<\/strong> (domatio, <em>room<\/em>). It contains only nouns.
