Greek is one of the most ancient languages and there are words to describe almost anything. However, there are English words used in everyday life that cannot be translated. In some cases they can be translated but the Greek version is rarely used. These words can be related to:<\/p>\n

Places<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u03c4\u03bf \u03c3\u03bf\u03cd\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1 \u03bc\u03ac\u03c1\u03ba\u03b5\u03c4<\/span> (to super market)<\/em>: the Greek word is <\/span>\u03c5\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1\u03b1\u03b3\u03bf\u03c1\u03ac<\/span> (eeperagora)<\/em><\/span> but it is not used in everyday life.<\/span><\/p>\n

E.g. <\/span>\u0398\u03b1 \u03c0\u03ac\u03c9 \u03c3\u03c4\u03bf \u03c3\u03bf\u03cd\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1 \u03bc\u03ac\u03c1\u03ba\u03b5\u03c4 \u03bd\u03b1 \u03b1\u03b3\u03bf\u03c1\u03ac\u03c3\u03c9 \u03bc\u03b5\u03c1\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac \u03c0\u03c1\u03ac\u03b3\u03bc\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1. The Greek word for camping is <\/span>\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03ba\u03ae\u03bd\u03c9\u03c3\u03b7<\/span> (<\/span>kataskeenosee)<\/span> but it refers to a camping for children or teenagers <\/span>where they spend summer holidays without the supervision of their parents.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kitchen<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u03c4\u03bf \u03ba\u03bf\u03ba\u03c4\u03ad\u03b9\u03bb<\/span> (cocktail<\/em>)<\/em>. Usually it contains alcohol. Otherwise, it is called <\/span>\u03ba\u03bf\u03ba\u03c4\u03ad\u03b9\u03bb \u03c7\u03c9\u03c1\u03af\u03c2 \u03b1\u03bb\u03ba\u03bf\u03cc\u03bb<\/span> (<\/em>coctail<\/em> horis alcool)<\/em>, a cocktail with no alcohol.<\/span><\/p>\n
