In this post, there is a list of slang words deriving from animal words. “Was the food at the taverna good?” “The sardines were too salty! We are so thirsty!” (When a food has too much salt we use the slang expression \u03b5\u03af\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9 \u03bb\u03cd\u03c3\u03c3\u03b1. \u039b\u03cd\u03c3\u03c3\u03b1 means rabies<\/em>.)<\/span><\/p>\n

#7. \u03bc\u03bf\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03c1\u03ce\u03bd\u03c9<\/strong>:<\/strong> from <\/span>\u03bc\u03bf\u03c5\u03bb\u03ac\u03c1\u03b9 (<\/em><\/span>mule)<\/em>. <\/span>We use it when someone gets very stubborn and it is impossible to change their mind.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u038c\u03bb\u03bf\u03b9 \u03c4\u03b7\u03c2 \u03bb\u03ad\u03bd\u03b5 \u03bd\u03b1 \u03bc\u03b7\u03bd \u03c4\u03bf\u03bd \u03c0\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03c1\u03b5\u03c5\u03c4\u03b5\u03af \u03b1\u03bb\u03bb\u03ac \u03b5\u03ba\u03b5\u03af\u03bd\u03b7 \u03b4\u03b5\u03bd \u03b1\u03ba\u03bf\u03cd\u03b5\u03b9 \u03ba\u03b1\u03bd\u03ad\u03bd\u03b1\u03bd. \u0388\u03c7\u03b5\u03b9 \u03bc\u03bf\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03c1\u03ce\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9.<\/p>\n

#8. \u03c0\u03b1\u03c0\u03b1\u03b3\u03b1\u03bb\u03af\u03b6\u03c9:<\/strong> from <\/span>\u03c0\u03b1\u03c0\u03b1\u03b3\u03ac\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2 (<\/span>parrot). We use it for students when they echo back <\/span>w<\/span>hat they studied to their teacher.<\/span><\/h4>\n

E.g. \u0397 \u039c\u03b1\u03c1\u03af\u03b1 \u03cc,\u03c4\u03b9 \u03b1\u03ba\u03bf\u03cd\u03b5\u03b9 \u03c3\u03c4\u03bf \u03c1\u03ac\u03b4\u03b9\u03bf \u03c4\u03bf \u03c0\u03b1\u03c0\u03b1\u03b3\u03b1\u03bb\u03af\u03b6\u03b5\u03b9 \u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2 \u03ac\u03bb\u03bb\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2.<\/p>\n

Maria echoes back to the others whatever she hears on the radio.<\/p>\n

#9. \u03c3\u03ba\u03c5\u03bb\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9<\/strong>:<\/strong> from <\/span>\u03c3\u03ba\u03cd\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2 (<\/em><\/span>dog)<\/em>. To be very angry, to feel rage against someone or to be very jealous.<\/span><\/h4>\n

E.g. \u038c\u03c4\u03b1\u03bd \u03bc\u03ac\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9 \u03cc\u03c4\u03b9 \u03c0\u03ae\u03b3\u03b1\u03bc\u03b5 \u03c3\u03c4\u03bf \u03c0\u03ac\u03c1\u03c4\u03b9 \u03c7\u03c9\u03c1\u03af\u03c2 \u03b1\u03c5\u03c4\u03cc\u03bd, \u03b8\u03b1 \u03c3\u03ba\u03c5\u03bb\u03b9\u03ac\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9.<\/p>\n
