July has been a depressing month because of the disastrous wildfires which took place in Attica. Fortunately, August came bringing good news: the Greek team has won four medals so far at the European Athletics Championship (\u0395\u03c5\u03c1\u03c9\u03c0\u03b1\u03ca\u03ba\u03cc \u03a0\u03c1\u03c9\u03c4\u03ac\u03b8\u03bb\u03b7\u03bc\u03b1 \u03a3\u03c4\u03af\u03b2\u03bf\u03c5)<\/span> held in Berlin! \u039c\u03c0\u03c1\u03ac\u03b2\u03bf \u0395\u03bb\u03bb\u03ac\u03b4\u03b1!<\/span><\/p>\n

Katerina Stefanidi (\u039a\u03b1\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03b1 \u03a3\u03c4\u03b5\u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u03af\u03b4\u03b7)<\/span>, the pole vaulter who won a gold medal in the Rio Olympics, won the first place and set a new record after clearing 4.85 meters. The silver medal is won by another Greek athlete, Nikol Kyriakopoulou (\u039d\u03b9\u03ba\u03cc\u03bb \u039a\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03cd\u03bb\u03bf\u03c5)<\/span> with 4.80 meters.<\/p>\n

Another gold medal was won in triple jump by Voula Papachristou (\u0392\u03bf\u03cd\u03bb\u03b1 \u03a0\u03b1\u03c0\u03b1\u03c7\u03c1\u03ae\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03c5)<\/span> who jumped 14.60 meters.<\/p>\n

Maria Belibasaki (\u039c\u03b1\u03c1\u03af\u03b1 \u039c\u03c0\u03b5\u03bb\u03b9\u03bc\u03c0\u03b1\u03c3\u03ac\u03ba\u03b7)<\/span> a sprinter from Crete, won the silver medal \u00a0finishing 400 meters in 50.45, which is a national record.<\/p>\n

Miltos Tentoglou (\u039c\u03af\u03bb\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2 \u03a4\u03b5\u03bd\u03c4\u03cc\u03b3\u03bb\u03bf\u03c5)<\/span>, the youngest athlete in the Greek team, jumped 8.25 meters and won the gold medal in long jump.<\/p>\n

The athletes wore a black ribbon as a sign of mourning and declared that they dedicate their medals to the memory of those who lost their lives in the wildfires.<\/p>\n
