He is usually depicted as a handsome, blond teenager, holding a lyre or a bow. He was the most handsome of all Gods, but nevertheless, he didn\u2019t have much luck with women! He is the founder and ruler of the famous oracle in Delphi and his temple can be found in a most breath-taking scenery <em>(<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u039c\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b5\u03af\u03bf<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u0394\u03b5\u03bb\u03c6\u03ce\u03bd<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>)<\/em>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Artemis: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\"><b>\u0386\u03c1\u03c4\u03b5\u03bc\u03b9\u03c2<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>:<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"> Goddess of hunting, wild life, animals, and protector of women. Roman name: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Diana<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">. She is depicted as an athletic and beautiful young woman, holding a bow<em> (<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03c4\u03cc\u03be\u03bf<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>)<\/em> and usually there is a deer<em> (<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03b5\u03bb\u03ac\u03c6\u03b9<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>)<\/em> nearby! Her most famous temple used to be in Ephesus, Asia Minor, one of the seven wonders of antiquity, for its immense size and beauty. Nowadays, we can more easily visit her temple in Vravrona, a serene sea-side resort outside Athens.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Hephaestus: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">the God of fire and metallurgy \u2013 protector of technicians. Roman name: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Vulcan<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">. He was the only Olympian God who was not handsome but he made up for it with his talent. He made everything the other Gods needed, their weapons, cups, belts, scepters, arrows and many more. His temple can be found in the center of Athens, in Thesion, and was part of the ancient Agora <em>(<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03b1\u03c1\u03c7\u03b1\u03af\u03b1<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u0391\u03b3\u03bf\u03c1\u03ac<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>)<\/em>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Demetra:<\/b><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\"><b>\u0394\u03ae\u03bc\u03b7\u03c4\u03c1\u03b1<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>:<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"> goddess of agriculture, protector of farmers and the cultivation of the earth (<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03b3\u03b5\u03c9\u03c1\u03b3\u03af\u03b1<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">). She was often depicted as a respectable, mature woman, holding a sheaf of cereal <em>(<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03c3\u03c4\u03ac\u03c7\u03c5<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>)<\/em> or a sickle <em>(<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03b4\u03c1\u03b5\u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03b9<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>)<\/em>. Roman name: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Ceres<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">. She is responsible for the seasons of the year and the fertility of the land. The most famous temple dedicated to her can be found in the island of Naxos, built with local white marble of excellent quality.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Hermes:<\/b><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\"><b>\u0395\u03c1\u03bc\u03ae\u03c2<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">the messenger of the Gods \u2013 protector of commerce and travel. He is depicted as a beautiful young man wearing winged sandals. Roman name: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Mercurius<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">. There were not many temples dedicated to him because he could be found everywhere, as his many statues and statuettes indicate. However, we can visit one in Delos, and another in Crete, in ancient Syme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Hestia: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\"><b>\u0395\u03c3\u03c4\u03af\u03b1<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">the Goddess of the hearth \u2013 protector of the family and family life. She is depicted as a sober, mature woman. Roman name: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><b>Vesta<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">. In antiquity, she would receive the first offering or libation <em>(<\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"el-GR\">\u03c3\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd\u03b4\u03ae<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>)<\/em> in every festivity, but there was no public worship as her place was in the hearth of every house. Thus, not many temples dedicated to her survive.
