Every name has a meaning, every name has significance. Last time we delved into the name <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/hebrew\/tal-the-origin-of-a-common-hebrew-name\/\">Tal<\/a>. Today we&#8217;ll check out another name from nature: Shachar \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8.<\/p>\n<p>\u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 means dawn, the faint rays of light appearing before the sunrise. As with Tal, \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 originates from the Bible too. It appears, for example, in Genesis chapter 19 verse 15:<\/p>\n<p>\u05d5\u05bc\u05db\u05b0\u05de\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 \u05e2\u05b8\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b8\u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05e6\u05d5\u05bc \u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b7\u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05b8\u05db\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05d8&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>[And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>And also in Genesis chapter 32 verses 25 and 27:<\/p>\n<p>\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b4\u05d5\u05bc\u05b8\u05ea\u05b5\u05e8 \u05d9\u05b7\u05e2\u05b2\u05e7\u05b9\u05d1 \u05dc\u05b0\u05d1\u05b7\u05d3\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b5\u05d0\u05b8\u05d1\u05b5\u05e7 \u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1 \u05e2\u05b4\u05de\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05e2\u05b7\u05d3 \u05e2\u05b2\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05ea \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b8\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8&#8230; \u00a0\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b9\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05dc\u05bc\u05b0\u05d7\u05b5\u05e0\u05b4\u05d9 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05e2\u05b8\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b8\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>[And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day&#8230; And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>It appears also in Joshua chapter 6 verse 15:<\/p>\n<p>\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b0\u05d1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e2\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b7\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05de\u05d5\u05bc \u05db\u05bc\u05b7\u05e2\u05b2\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05ea \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>[And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From the word \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 we can derive the name of an important Jewish Prayer, one of the three prayers they pray every day: Shacharit \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea. \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea is the first of the three prayers of the day. Sunrise is the best time to pray \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea but one can start with the crack of dawn.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 means the first light of the day, it becomes a metaphor for earliness, for start. \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 \u05d9\u05b8\u05de\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 (Sh-char ya-mav, literally means the dawn of his days), for example, means the beginning of one&#8217;s life. It&#8217;s a literary phrase but it&#8217;s well known. For example:<\/p>\n<p>\u05de\u05b4\u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05bc\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 \u05d9\u05b8\u05de\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05d9\u05b8\u05d3\u05b7\u05e2 \u05de\u05b5\u05d0\u05c5\u05d9\u05e8 \u05d3\u05b8\u05d2\u05b8\u05df \u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05d9\u05bc\u05c5\u05e4\u05b0\u05e2\u05b7\u05dc \u05dc\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05e2\u05b7\u05df \u05d8\u05d5\u05b9\u05d1\u05b7\u05ea \u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05b0\u05bc\u05d3\u05b4\u05d9\u05e0\u05b8\u05d4<\/p>\n<p>Since his early years Meir Dagan knew that he will give his best for the country<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05e8 is a unisex name.
