The <strong>right wing parties (\u05de\u05b4\u05e4\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d2\u05d5\u05ba\u05ea \u05d4\u05b7\u05d9\u05b8\u05bc\u05de\u05b4\u05d9\u05df)<\/strong> won a majority of votes, and it was pretty obvious that Benjamin Netanyahu, the <strong>leader (\u05de\u05b7\u05e0\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05d2)<\/strong> of the biggest right wing <strong>party (\u05de\u05b4\u05e4\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d2\u05b8\u05d4)<\/strong>, will continue to lead Israel as its <strong>prime minister (\u05e8\u05b9\u05d0\u05e9\u05c1 \u05de\u05b6\u05de\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4)<\/strong>. But the election process ends only after the assembling of the <strong>government (\u05de\u05b6\u05de\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4)<\/strong>, which Netanyahu didn\u2019t accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>After the election results are published, <strong>the president of Israel (\u05e0\u05b8\u05e9\u05c2\u05b4\u05d9\u05d0 \u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05b0\u05bc\u05d3\u05c5\u05d9\u05e0\u05b8\u05d4)<\/strong> begins his consultations with the different elected party leaders. The leaders arrive at the president\u2019s residence to recommend their <strong>candidate (\u05de\u05b8\u05e2\u05b3\u05de\u05b8\u05d3)<\/strong> for leading the government. While this typically is the leader of the party wining the most seats, it is not required to be so. Within seven days after the election the president of Israel mandates upon one of the <strong>members of the Knesset (\u05d7\u05b8\u05d1\u05b5\u05e8 \u05db\u05bc\u05b0\u05e0\u05b6\u05e1\u05b6\u05ea)<\/strong> the task of forming the government. In April 17th, the president assigned this task to Netanyahu:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u05e8\u05d4&quot;\u05de \u05e0\u05ea\u05e0\u05d9\u05d4\u05d5 \u05de\u05e7\u05d1\u05dc \u05de\u05d4\u05e0\u05e9\u05d9\u05d0 \u05e8\u05d9\u05d1\u05dc\u05d9\u05df \u05d0\u05ea \u05db\u05ea\u05d1 \u05d4\u05de\u05d9\u05e0\u05d5\u05d9 \u05dc\u05d4\u05e8\u05db\u05d1\u05ea \u05d4\u05de\u05de\u05e9\u05dc\u05d4\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YGvfXGdOgYY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The chosen member has up to 42 days to negotiate with the different parties, before presenting his government to the Knesset. Ostensibly, assembling a right wing <strong>coalition (\u05e7\u05d5\u05b9\u05d0\u05b8\u05dc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e6\u05b0\u05d9\u05b8\u05d4)<\/strong> was supposed to be an easy task for Netanyahu. It was his fifth time to assemble a government; the right wing parties won ten more seats than the <strong>left wing parties (\u05de\u05b4\u05e4\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d2\u05d5\u05ba\u05ea \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05c2\u05b0\u05bc\u05de\u05b9\u05d0\u05dc)<\/strong>; and a majority of 64 <strong>lawmakers (\u05de\u05b0\u05d7\u05d5\u05b9\u05e7\u05b5\u05e7\u05c5\u05d9\u05dd)<\/strong> recommended him to build the next coalition. But for the first time in Israel, an elected prime minister failed to assemble a coalition.<\/p>\n<p>Try it yourself. According to the <strong>law (\u05d7\u05b9\u05d5\u05e7)<\/strong>, if the president\u2019s chosen candidate fails, the president should lay the <strong>task (\u05de\u05b0\u05e9\u05c2\u05b4\u05d9\u05de\u05b8\u05d4)<\/strong> on another Knesset member (not necessary a party leader) within 3 days. If the second candidate cannot form a government, the power is passed on to the Knesset members. They are eligible to offer the president their own candidate in a signed letter. If after all these efforts, no one success in forming a coalition, there is no choice but to hold <strong>new (\u05d7\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05ba\u05ea)<\/strong> elections for the next government.<\/p>\n<p>But none of these attempts has been implemented. To prevent the awarding of the <strong>mandate (\u05de\u05b7\u05e0\u05b0\u05d3\u05bc\u05b8\u05d8)<\/strong> to another candidate, Netanyahu submitted a law <strong>to dissolve (\u05dc\u05b0\u05e4\u05b8\u05d6\u05b5\u05e8)<\/strong> the Knesset.
