This would be the first step in communication and making friends. So let&#8217;s start with this first.<\/p>\n<h3>Introducing Yourself<\/h3>\n<p align=\"justify\">We already know the word for &#8220;hello&#8221; (<span style=\"font-size: 21px;font-family: times new roman\" dir=\"rtl\">\u05e9\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd<\/span>). To say your name, you&#8217;d start off with the word <span style=\"font-size: 21px;font-family: times new roman\" dir=\"rtl\">\u05e9\u05c1\u05b5\u05dd<\/span> &#8211; <strong>shem<\/strong> (<em>name<\/em>). As we&#8217;ve seen in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/hebrew\/how-are-you\/\" target=\"_blank\">last week&#8217;s post<\/a>, most nouns are changed slightly when a pronominal suffix is added.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">So, we&#8217;re going to take the word <span style=\"font-size: 21px;font-family: times new roman\" dir=\"rtl\">\u05e9\u05c1\u05b5\u05dd<\/span> &#8211; <strong>shem<\/strong> (<em>name<\/em>), and add on the suffix meaning &#8220;my&#8221; (<em>do you remember what it is?<\/em>). Adding the suffix is going to change the pronunciation of the word from &#8220;shem&#8221; to &#8220;shmee&#8221; and will look like this: <span style=\"font-size: 21px;font-family: times new roman\" dir=\"rtl\">\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05de\u05b4\u05d9<\/span> &#8211; &#8220;My name&#8221;. In Hebrew, as in Arabic, there is no word equivalent to &#8220;am&#8221;, &#8220;is&#8221; or &#8220;are&#8221; in the present tense. Therefore to say &#8220;My name is Dan&#8221; you&#8217;ll be literally saying &#8220;My name Dan&#8221;. <span style=\"font-size: 21px;font-family: times new roman\" dir=\"rtl\">\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05de\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d3\u05b8\u05df<\/span> &#8211; <strong>shmee dahn<\/strong>. Remember, Hebrew makes use of differences in gender. Remember to keep the gender issue in mind. Here I&#8217;ll show you two common ways to make these introductions:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">First, we can use a part of the introduction we learned above<br \/>\nThis is &#8230; (<em>when introducing a male<\/em>) &#8211;
