The Games\u00a0were\u00a0delayed a year\u00a0in the hopes that the COVID-19 situation would be under control by now. Unfortunately, this is not the case. As the pandemic rages across the globe, and Japan just announced a state of emergency, these Games will be different.<\/p>\n<p>Athletes (<strong>\u05e1\u05b0\u05e4\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8\u05b0\u05d8\u05b7\u05d0\u05d9\u05c5\u05dd<\/strong>), participating in the Olympics, face quarantine upon arrival to Japan and daily coronavirus tests. They must stay in isolation bubbles within the athletes\u2019 village. Socializing and group meals are prohibited. All competitions will be held before empty seats, since no spectators are allowed. There will be no fans, no cheering, and no applause. All athletes must depart Japan within 48 hours of their last event.<\/p>\n<p>For Israel it will be the 17th appearance at the Summer\u00a0Olympic Games. The Israeli delegation (<strong>\u05de\u05b4\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05dc\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05ea<\/strong>) is going to be the biggest the country has ever assembled, almost double the delegation sent to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. 89 Israeli athletes will compete this summer (<strong>\u05e7\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05e5<\/strong>) in 21 Olympic sports.<\/p>\n<p>Surfing is one of the sports that will make its debut appearance in the coming Games. Only 20 women from around the world will compete in the two-day completion that will take place in the ocean. One of them is Anat Lelior, a solider in the IDF who qualified for the Olympics already in 2019. <strong>\u05d6\u05d5\u05ba \u05d4\u05b8\u05d9\u05b0\u05ea\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d7\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d8\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d8\u05d5\u05b9\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b4\u05d3\u05b0\u05d7\u05d5\u05b9\u05ea \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea \u05d4\u05b8\u05d0\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b4\u05d9\u05de\u05b0\u05e4\u05bc\u05b0\u05d9\u05b8\u05d0\u05d3\u05b8\u05d4, \u05e7\u05b9\u05d3\u05b6\u05dd \u05db\u05bc\u05b9\u05dc \u05d4\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05d0\u05d5\u05bc\u05ea<\/strong> (<em>it was a good decision to postpone the Olympics, health comes first<\/em>), she said in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>For Anat, Olympics was never an option before, since surfing is a new Olympic sport. Linoy Ashram, on the other hand, a successful\u00a0rhythmic gymnast, was aiming for the Olympics.
