Not a bad <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d8\u05b4\u05d9\u05e1\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>tee-sah<\/strong> &#8211; flight<\/em>). Had a bit of <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05de\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>me-hoo-mah<\/strong> &#8211; turbulance<\/em>) over\u00a0 <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d4\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05b8\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05db\u05d5\u05b9\u05df<\/span> (<em><strong>ha-yahm ha-tee-khon<\/strong> &#8211; the Mediterranean Sea<\/em>). This <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e0\u05b0\u05de\u05b7\u05dc \u05ea\u05bc\u05b0\u05e2\u05d5\u05bc\u05e4\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>neh-mahl ha-teh-&#8216;oo-fah<\/strong> &#8211; airport<\/em>) is very secure with a security force that includes Israel Police officers, <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e6\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05d0 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d4\u05b2\u05d2\u05b8\u05e0\u05b8\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b0\u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05c2\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc<\/span> (<em><strong>ts-vah ha-hah-gah-nah leh-yees-rah-&#8216;el<\/strong> &#8211; Israel Defense Force<\/em>) and <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05de\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05de\u05b7\u05e8 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d2\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05dc\u200e\u200e<\/span> (<em><strong>meesh-mahr ha-g&#8217;vool<\/strong> &#8211; Israel Border Police<\/em>). Airport security guards operate both in uniform and undercover to maintain a high level of vigilance and detect any possible threats. Now it&#8217;s time to deplane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style7\" align=\"justify\">When I got off the plane, I walked through the jetway, to the lobby on the first floor. Here&#8217;s where you may get confused, so bear with me &#8211; click on the images of the maps above to get an idea of getting through the airport. I need to get up to the lobby on the second floor. So, walking through the <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05dc\u05d5\u05bc\u05d7\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>shloo-khah<\/strong> &#8211; concourse<\/em>), to the <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05db\u05bc\u05b8\u05e8<\/span> (<em><strong>kee-kahr<\/strong> &#8211; rotunda<\/em>). I went round the rotunda to the <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e9\u05c2\u05b0\u05d3\u05b5\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>s&#8217;deh-rah<\/strong> &#8211; connector<\/em>), and from there, since I am an <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e0\u05d5\u05b9\u05e1\u05b5\u05e2\u05b7 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05d9\u05e0\u05b0\u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05bb\u05de\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9<\/span> ( &#8211; International passenger), I go to <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05e7\u05bc\u05b9\u05e8\u05b6\u05ea \u05d2\u05bc\u05b0\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05ea<\/span> (<strong>bee-koh-reht ge-voo-loat<\/strong> &#8211; border control) on floor G.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style7\" align=\"justify\">What you&#8217;ll see next are manned control counters, and biometric control counters. Israeli <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d3\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05db\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05df<\/span> (<em><strong>dar-kohn<\/strong> &#8211; passport<\/em>) holders will approach the manned counters or make use of the biometric system. I&#8217;m not sure what it&#8217;s about, but again, I&#8217;m a foreign <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d3\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05db\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05df<\/span>\u00a0(<em><strong>dar-kohn<\/strong> &#8211; passport<\/em>) holder, so I go to the manned counter where I hand over my <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d3\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05db\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05df<\/span>\u00a0(<em><strong>dar-kohn<\/strong> &#8211; passport<\/em>) and form L17 (<em>Arriving tourists are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">required<\/span>, prior to landing, to fill out form L17 for the registration of personal details. Trust me, this will prevent delays when going through <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e0\u05d4\u05dc\u05d9 \u05e4\u05e1\u05e4\u05d5\u05e8\u05d8<\/span> (<strong>bee-ko-ret ha-dar-ko-neem<\/strong> &#8211; passport procedures). Make sure to write down all your <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d3\u05bc\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05db\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05df<\/span> (<strong>dar-kohn<\/strong> &#8211; passport) and flight details and keep a copy for yourself, as it will be needed when leaving Israel<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"style7\" align=\"justify\">Once you get through <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05e7\u05bc\u05b9\u05e8\u05b6\u05ea \u05d2\u05bc\u05b0\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05ea<\/span> (<em><strong>bee-koh-reht ge-voo-loat<\/strong> &#8211; border control<\/em>) and <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e0\u05d4\u05dc\u05d9 \u05e4\u05e1\u05e4\u05d5\u05e8\u05d8<\/span> (<em><strong>bee-ko-ret ha-dar-ko-neem<\/strong> &#8211; passport procedures<\/em>), Level G also has <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d0\u05b4\u05e1\u05bc\u05d5\u05bc\u05e3 \u05db\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05d3\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>ee-soof keh-voo-dah<\/strong> &#8211; baggage claim<\/em>) and <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05b6\u05db\u05b6\u05e1<\/span> (<em><strong>ha-meh-khes<\/strong> &#8211; customs inspection<\/em>). Watch the signs that indicate where your <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05db\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05d3\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>keh-voo-dah<\/strong> &#8211; luggage<\/em>) is due to arrive. Once you collect your <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05db\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05d3\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>keh-voo-dah<\/strong> &#8211; luggage<\/em>), you go on to the <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05b6\u05db\u05b6\u05e1<\/span> (<em><strong>ha-meh-khes<\/strong> &#8211; customs inspection<\/em>). Oh, once you have your bags, make sure you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do not leave your <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05db\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc\u05d3\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>keh-voo-dah<\/strong> &#8211; luggage<\/em>) unattended at any time<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style7\" align=\"justify\">At <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05b6\u05db\u05b6\u05e1<\/span> (<em><strong>ha-meh-khes<\/strong> &#8211; customs inspection<\/em>) there are three paths to choose from to go through:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Green Path<\/strong><\/span>: <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e2\u05dc \u05de\u05d4 \u05dc\u05d4\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8<\/span> (<em><strong>lee mah l\u2019heets-heer<\/strong> &#8211; nothing to declare<\/em>).<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Red Path<\/strong><\/span>: Passengers bringing with them any electrical appliance worth more than $200.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Blue Path<\/strong><\/span>: Groups and air crew who have <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e2\u05dc \u05de\u05d4 \u05dc\u05d4\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8<\/span> (<em><strong>lee mah l\u2019heets-heer<\/strong> &#8211; nothing to declare<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to bringing <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05db\u05bc\u05b6\u05e1\u05b6\u05e3<\/span> (<em><strong>keh-sehf<\/strong> &#8211; money<\/em>) into or taking <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05db\u05bc\u05b6\u05e1\u05b6\u05e3<\/span> (<em><strong>keh-sehf<\/strong> &#8211; money<\/em>) out of Israel, you must <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05dc\u05d4\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8<\/span> (<em><strong>l\u2019-hahts-heer<\/strong> &#8211; to declare<\/em>) any amount over NIS 80,000 <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05e7\u05b6\u05dc \u05d7\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u200e\u200e<\/span> (<em><strong>sheh-kehl khah-dahsh<\/strong><\/em> &#8211;<em> Israeli new Shekel)<\/em>. I&#8217;m not carrying that much, but I do need to exchange some dollars to <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05e7\u05b6\u05dc \u05d7\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u200e\u200e<\/span> (<em><strong>sheh-kehl khah-dahsh<\/strong> &#8211; Israeli new Shekel<\/em>) (<em>as of August 23rd, 2012 the exchange rate was $1 = NIS 4.01107<\/em>). Good thing is there&#8217;s a couple of counters by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bankhapoalim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bank Hapoalim<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpl.co.il\/English\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Changeplace<\/a> close by. <em><strong>Tip:<\/strong> It is recommended to keep any foreign currency receipts, you will need them to repurchase <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05de\u05b7\u05d8\u05b0\u05d1\u05bc\u05b5\u05e2\u05b7 \u05d6\u05b8\u05e8<\/span> (<strong>maht-beh-&#8216;a zahr<\/strong> &#8211; foreign currency) upon departure.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style7\" align=\"justify\">After that is a Hall where you can meet your family and friends who have been waiting for your <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05d4\u05b7\u05d2\u05bc\u05b8\u05e2\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>ha-gah-&#8216;ah<\/strong> &#8211; arrival<\/em>). I&#8217;m not meeting anyone there, so I&#8217;ll just take a breather and admire the view outside the windows for a few minutes. Oh wait, there&#8217;s a coffee shop. I&#8217;ll go in there and have a cup of coffee. There are other shops and services around &#8211; florists, souvenir shops, a post office, foreign currency exchange, counters to return cel phones and banks. I&#8217;ll probably go and rent a car so I can drive when and where I want while in <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05ea\u05b5\u05bc\u05dc\u05be\u05d0\u05b8\u05d1\u05b4\u05d9\u05d1<\/span> (<em><strong>tel ah-veev<\/strong> &#8211; Tel Aviv<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"style7\" align=\"justify\">Okay, had my coffee, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avis.co.il\/avis\/site\/local\/avis\/html\/shortRentalEng.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">got a car<\/a> and now I&#8217;m off to the <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05de\u05b8\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05df<\/span> (<em><strong>mah-loan<\/strong> &#8211; hotel<\/em>) in <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e8\u05b8\u05de\u05b7\u05ea \u05d2\u05b7\u05bc\u05df\u200e\u200e<\/span> (<em><strong>rah-maht gahn<\/strong><\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s next?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"style7\" align=\"justify\">Next, I&#8217;ll give you some lessons on <span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 21px; font-family: times new roman;\">\u05e0\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05d2\u05b8\u05d4<\/span> (<em><strong>neh-hee-gah<\/strong> &#8211; driving<\/em>) in Israel.
