This is a temple dedicated to Bhagavathy. Bhagavathy is a term that is used to refer to Hindu goddesses. Here is a video of Pariyanampetta Bhagavathy Temple. Despite the loud noise from the drums and cymbals, the elephants are not scared and do not run away. If you watch this video, you can see that the crowd cheers when the elephant bows down to the temple entrance.
