{"id":131,"date":"2010-01-27T03:36:20","date_gmt":"2010-01-27T08:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/hindi\/?p=131"},"modified":"2010-01-27T03:36:20","modified_gmt":"2010-01-27T08:36:20","slug":"locative-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/hindi\/locative-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Locative Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The locative case marks the position or location of objects :<\/p>\n<p>Here are some sample sentences :<\/p>\n<p>She sat on the horse : <strong>\u0935\u0939\u00a0\u0918\u094b\u095c\u0947\u00a0\u092a\u0930\u00a0\u092c\u0948\u0920\u0940<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The paper is on the table : <strong>\u0915\u093e\u0917\u091c\u093c\u00a0\u092e\u0947\u095b\u00a0\u092a\u0930 \u0939\u0948<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My clothes are on the roof : <strong>\u092e\u0947\u0930\u0947<\/strong>\u00a0<span class=\"ehe in\"><strong>\u0915\u092a\u0921\u093c\u0947 <\/strong><span class=\"ehe in\"><strong>\u091b\u0924 \u092a\u0930<\/strong> <span class=\"ehe in\"><strong>\u0939\u0948\u0902<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ehe in\"><span class=\"ehe in\"><span class=\"ehe in\">The common word in all these sentences is <strong>\u092a\u0930. <\/strong>In all these sentences, <strong>\u092a\u0930\u00a0<\/strong>indicates that\u00a0the object will be in\u00a0the locative case. For example, in the sentence, &#8220;The paper is on the table&#8221;, &#8220;table&#8221; (<strong>\u092e\u0947\u095b<\/strong>) is in the locative case. Similarly, &#8220;horse&#8221;\u00a0 (<strong>\u0918\u094b\u095c\u0947<\/strong>) in the sentence &#8220;She sat on the horse&#8221; is in the locative and &#8220;roof&#8221; (<span class=\"ehe in\"><strong>\u091b\u0924<\/strong><\/span>)\u00a0in &#8220;My clothes are on the roof&#8221; is also in the locative. Notice that in these three sentences, the word &#8220;on&#8221; in English was translated as <strong>\u092a\u0930 <\/strong>in Hindi. <span class=\"ehe\"><span style=\"font-family:\">However, sometimes, the use of <\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u092a\u0930<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family:\"> <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ehe\"><span style=\"font-family:\">doesn&#8217;t sound quite right if you use the English &#8220;of&#8221;. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ehe\"><span style=\"font-family:\">Here are some examples :<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ehe\"><span style=\"font-family:\">I eat at the table : <\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u092e\u0948\u0902 \u092e\u0947\u091c \u092a\u0930 \u0916\u093e\u0928\u093e \u0916\u093e\u0924\u093e \u0939\u0942\u0901<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ehe\"><span style=\"font-family:\">His office is some distance from here : <\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u0909\u0938\u0915\u093e<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u0926\u095e\u094d\u0924\u0930<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u092f\u0939\u093e\u0901 \u0938\u0947 \u0915\u0941\u091b \u0926\u0941\u0930\u0940 \u092a\u0930<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ehe\"><span style=\"font-family:\"> <\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:\">\u0939\u0948<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ehe\"><span style=\"font-family:\">In general, the sentence would make more sense to say, &#8220;I eat at the table&#8221; rather than &#8220;I eat on the table&#8221;.\u00a0It&#8217;s also possible to say, &#8220;His office is some distance on from here&#8221;, but most\u00a0English speakers\u00a0would probably just omit the &#8220;on&#8221;.
