Did you know that there are some excellent and beautiful looking mausoleums in India? Some of the greatest leaders in Indian history have built these mausoleums as a lasting testament to their legacy on earth.<\/p>\n

Who can forget the Taj Mahal? It is the mausoleum of Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. The main chambers of the Taj Mahal house the sarcophagi of Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife. However, the actual tombs of the Emperor and his wife are located elsewhere. There are four minarets that frame the tombs, and in the center of the minarets is the large, white, marble dome that encloses the tomb. This dome is probably the most recognized dome in the world!<\/p>\n

The Mausoleum of Akbar the Great is located in Sikandra, which is a place located in Uttar Pradesh. The construction of Akbar\u2019s mausoleum was started by Akbar himself, but was finished by his son Jahangir. It\u2019s too bad that Emperor Akbar never got to see the mausoleum in his lifetime, because it\u2019s glorious. The tomb is in the shape of a marble pyramid, and enclosed by a wall. However, this isn\u2019t the real tomb. The real tomb is in the basement.<\/p>\n

Emperor Humayun\u2019s Mausoleum is located in Delhi, India. The Emperor Humayun\u2019s Mausoleum was constructed by his wife, nine years after his death. Underneath the dome of this mausoleum lies the burial chamber of Emperor Humayun. However the real burial chamber lies underneath, far away from the fake burial chamber. There is a light that can directly enter the burial chamber. This light symbolizes the Emperor as being close to the light of divinity.<\/p>\n
