For different occasions, we have different\u00a0<em>Mithai<\/em>. If you would start counting all varieties, be sure to run into hundreds. Given the size and diversity in India, this can be expected. These sweets are usually purchased but in many traditional\u00a0occasional\u00a0are prepared at home with the traditional methods or using readymade mix packs which are available from the market. Outside India, these delicacies are\u00a0available at Indian\u00a0restaurant or Indian shops in packed tin-cans which can be warmed on stoves or in microwaves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I thought about this topic for a while so why not give you a brief overview of these sweet delights?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let me present you some popular and delicious traditional Indian sweets to your taste buds.\u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1. <\/strong><strong>\u092c\u0930\u094d\u092b\u0940 (<\/strong><strong>Barfi)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Barfi<\/em> is very popular traditional sweets not just in India but in the entire Indian subcontinent. There are several variety of it\u00a0but the plain <em>Barfi<\/em> is the one which is made of milk which is then cooked with sugar in a large pan until it becomes a solid mass. This solid mass can be cut into a rhombus or rectangular shape from thin to thick thickness (though you can make any shape you want). \u00a0Some of the famous varieties of <em>Barfi<\/em> are\u00a0<strong>\u092c\u0947\u0938\u0928 \u0915\u0940 \u092c\u0930\u094d\u092b\u0940<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Besan ki Barfi<\/em>, which is made with gram flour),\u00a0<strong>\u0915\u093e\u091c\u0942 \u0915\u0940 \u092c\u0930\u094d\u092b\u0940<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Kaaju ki Barfi<\/em>, which is made with cashews),\u00a0<strong>\u092a\u093f\u0938\u094d\u0924\u0947 \u0915\u0940 \u092c\u0930\u094d\u092b\u0940<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Piste ki Barfi<\/em>, which is\u00a0made with ground pistachios),\u00a0<strong>\u091a\u094b\u0915\u0932\u0947\u091f \u0915\u0940 \u092c\u0930\u094d\u092b\u0940<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Chocolate ki Barfi<\/em>, which is\u00a0made with chocolate).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. <\/strong><strong>\u0930\u0938 \u0917\u0941\u0932\u094d\u0932\u093e (<\/strong><strong>Ras Gulla)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Ras gulla<\/em> is another popular sweet which resemble like a ball which is made from cottage\u00a0cheese. To prepare the ras gulla, you have to soak the cottage cheese balls in the sugar syrup. It is is very popular in East Indian state of West Bengal, where it came to its present form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3. <\/strong><strong>\u0932\u0921\u094d\u0921\u0942 (<\/strong><strong>Laddu)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Laddu<\/em> (always plural) are very traditional sweets in India which are prepared\/purchased and distributed to relatives and neighbors during a traditional Indian functions (weddings, new birth, starting new business or anything which is associated with happiness or new start). The most common variety of <em>Laddu<\/em> is <strong>\u092e\u094b\u0924\u0940\u091a\u094b\u0930 \u0915\u0947 \u0932\u0921\u094d\u0921\u0942<\/strong> (<em>Motichoor Ka Ladoo<\/em>) which are made of deep fried gram flour flakes which are sweetened and mixed with grated dry fruits and then made into round balls. The right amount of sugar and oil is very necessary to ensure the right form and taste of <em>Laddu<\/em>. Some other varieties of <em>Laddu<\/em> are <strong>\u092c\u0947\u0938\u0928 \u0915\u0947 \u0932\u0921\u094d\u0921\u0942<\/strong> (<em>Besan ke Laddu<\/em>, which is made from gram flour).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>4. <\/strong><strong>\u091c\u0932\u0947\u092c\u0940 (<\/strong><strong>Jalebi)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Jalebi<\/em> which is also known as \u0907\u092e\u0930\u0924\u0940 (<em>Imarati<\/em>) is very popular tradition sweets. It is made by deep frying batter (finely milled and refined wheat flour) in pretzel which is then soaked in sugar syrup. In some region, it is tradition to eat Jalebi with milk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>5. <\/strong><strong>\u0917\u0941\u0932\u093e\u092c \u091c\u093e\u092e\u0941\u0928 (<\/strong><strong>Gulaab Jaamun)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Gulaab Jaamun<\/em> a hugely popular dessert in India and elsewhere. It is made from the dough balls which are made from flour, milk solids and grated dry fruits. The balls are then deep fried in margarine or unsalted butter to golden or dark brown. Then, it is soaked into sugar syrup flavored with cardamom seeds or saffron. In almost all traditional functions, they are always prepared and enjoyed (my mouth is already watering just by having the thought of it \ud83d\ude42 ).<\/p>\n<p>There is a tradition associated with <em>Mithai<\/em>, that is, when people visit their relatives, they usually goes with Mithai (Usually a box of <em>Burfi<\/em>, <em>Gulab Jamun<\/em> or <em>Ras Gulla<\/em> but never <em>Jalebi<\/em>.
