Hindi movies are getting more and more gruesome as well as pathetically boring (उबाऊ – Ubaau) with the same theme of a love story. Many movie makers seems to introduce all possible elements of various genre irrespective of the story (कहानी – Kahaani) line just for the sake of commercial success. At present, thousands of Hindi movies are produced every year but only few of them depict the reality (वास्तविकता – Vaastavikata) of Indian society. Those movies, of course, don’t seem to satisfy the desire of Indian populace and usually fail. In my opinion, the movies should show the actual picture of a society rather than a society (समाज – Samaj) copy the culture shown in the movies.

Indian cinema was not always (सदैव – Sadaev) like this, there was an era in Indian cinema which is known for its highly acclaimed movies. This era was from 1940s to 1960s. During this time, some of the finest Hindi movies were ever produced. Those movies are known for the ingenious imagination (कल्पना – Kalpana) of the movie makers which has portrayed the reality of Indian society of that time. On contrary, modern Hindi movies are very much westernized (पाश्चात्य – Paashchaaty).

If you ever happen to have an opportunity (अवसर – Avasar) to get old Hindi movies, I would like to suggest some of the finest movies from that golden era of Hindi cinema. Some of the movies are,

1. प्यासा – Pyaasa (1957)

2. काग़ज़ के फूल – Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959)

3. आवारा – Awaara (1951)

4. श्री ४२० – Shree 420 (1955)

5. मदर इंडिया – Mother India (1957)

6. मुगल – ए – आजम – Mughal-e-Azam (1960)

7. मधुमति – Madhumati (1958)

To name a few, some of the famous directors from that era were Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoor and Bimal Roy.

I am not a critique but I am very much annoyed in which Hindi cinema is swayed by current movie makers.
