With Great Himalayas on its south and\u00a0Kunlun mountain range on its north, it is a place of its own beautry. The most of the population (\u091c\u0928\u0938\u0901\u0916\u094d\u092f\u093e &#8211; <em>Jansankhiya<\/em>) is Buddhist. It is also known as the land of high passes as there are several passes at altitude (\u090a\u0902\u091a\u093e\u0908 &#8211; <em>Unchai<\/em>) of 9,800\u00a0ft!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Leh and the Ladakh Festival, India\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OC7nio3bfWg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Ladakh Festival is celebrated in the Ladakh region (\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0947\u0924\u094d\u0930 &#8211;\u00a0<em>K\u1e63\u0113tra<\/em>) in the month of September. This year, it is celebrated from 20th to 26th of September. The festival is celebrated to commence the harvest season. The people dress in very colorful robes, mask and their traditional jewellery. Gathering of locals and tourist fills up the entire space around the gompas, a Buddhist monastery, where various stalls and tents are erected. The festival (\u0924\u094d\u092f\u094c\u0939\u093e\u0930 &#8211; <em>Tyohar<\/em>) showcases traditional dances (\u0928\u093e\u0901\u091a\u00a0 &#8211; <em>Nanch<\/em>), which symbolize the victory of good over evil in their storyline.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PDGVZeAnuPs\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PDGVZeAnuPs<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Not only dancers but also many musicians (\u0938\u0902\u0917\u0940\u0924\u0915\u093e\u0930 &#8211; <em>Sangeetkar<\/em>) and singers (\u0917\u0940\u0924\u0915\u093e\u0930\u00a0 &#8211; <em>Geetkar<\/em>) take part in the event and present local folk songs (\u0932\u094b\u0915 \u0917\u0940\u0924 &#8211; <em>Lok Geet<\/em>) and dances in the festival events. Traditional sports even such as polo and archery are also showcased. In the festival, you can also find many stalls which sells traditional arts and handicraft items.
