This dish is very popular in North and usually served with fried Indian bread called Bhatura (\u092d\u091f\u0942\u0930\u093e) or cooked basmati rice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Let me show you how to make this delicious dish at home.<\/p>\n<h2>Chole<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Recipe Servings :<\/strong> 4<br \/>\n<strong>Recipe Cook Time : <\/strong>25 minutes<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">1 cup Kabuli Chana (White Chick Peas) , soaked overnight and drained<br \/>\n1 tea bag or 1 teaspoon of tea leaf tied in muslin cloth<br \/>\n1\/2 tablespoons Cumin seeds (\u091c\u0940\u0930\u093e &#8211; Jeera)<br \/>\n1\/2 cup Onion (\u092a\u094d\u092f\u093e\u091c &#8211; Pyaaz), finely chopped<br \/>\n2 tablespoons Garlic (\u0932\u0939\u0938\u0941\u0928 &#8211; Lehsun), finely chopped<br \/>\n2 tablespoons Chole Masala (\u091b\u094b\u0932\u0947 \u092e\u0938\u093e\u0932\u093e) powder<br \/>\n1 tablespoon dried mango powder (\u0905\u092e\u091a\u0942\u0930 &#8211; Amchur)<br \/>\n1\/2 tablespoons Ginger (\u0905\u0926\u0930\u0915 &#8211; Adarak), finely chopped<br \/>\n1 teaspoon Red Chilli (\u0932\u093e\u0932 \u092e\u093f\u0930\u094d\u091a &#8211; Laal Mirch) Powder<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon Turmeric (\u0939\u0932\u094d\u0926\u0940 &#8211; Haldi) Powder<br \/>\n2 teaspoons Coriander (\u0927\u0928\u093f\u092f\u093e &#8211; Dhaniya) Powder<br \/>\n2 tablespoons Oil or Ghee (\u0918\u0940 &#8211; Clarified butter)<br \/>\n1 cup Water (\u092a\u093e\u0928\u0940 &#8211; Paani)<br \/>\nSalt (\u0928\u092e\u0915 &#8211; Namak) to taste<br \/>\nOptional 1 medium Tomatoes (\u091f\u092e\u093e\u091f\u0930 &#8211; Tamatar), roughly chopped<br \/>\nOptional fresh Cilantro or Coriander (\u0927\u0928\u093f\u092f\u093e &#8211; Dhaniya)<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">1. Combine the Kabuli Chane (singular, Chana), salt, tea bag and enough water in a pot and cook it for 20 min or if using a pressure cooker, pressure cook it for 3 whistles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Now discard the tea bag and drain the kabuli chana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">3. Heat the oil in a deep pan and add the cumin seeds. Fry cumin seeds for 2 min in hot oil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">4. Now add the onions, ginger and garlic and salt on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minute or till the onions turn golden brown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">5. Add the chole masala powder, chilli powder, dried mango powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds powder, salt and 1 cup of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir occasionally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">6. Add the kabuli chana, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 to 10 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Mash the kabuli chana once lightly with a help of a masher.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">7. Optionally, garnish dish with finely chopped fresh tomato and coriander or cilantro. Serve hot with Indian bread, Roti or Naan or fried Indian bread Bhatura which goes very well with Chole.
