It is also known as Shigmotsav or the harvest festival (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u0924\u094d\u092f\u094b\u0939\u093e\u0930 &#8211; Tyohaar)<\/span> and is celebrated annually (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u092a\u094d\u0930\u0924\u093f\u0935\u0930\u094d\u0937<\/span> &#8211; Prativarsh) during the Phalgun month (March according to Gregorian Calendar) which is the last month (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u092e\u0939\u0940\u0928\u093e<\/span> &#8211; Mahina) according to the Hindu calendar. It is also celebrated by Konkani diaspora and the festival of Holi is part of it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Celebration (\u0938\u092e\u093e\u0930\u094b\u0939 &#8211; Samaaroh) includes public parades which showcase\u00a0colorful floats\u00a0depicting scenes from regional mythology and religious scenes as well as traditional folk and street dances. Meanwhile, Shigmo festivals has two variants: Dhakto Shigmo (&#8220;small Shigmo&#8221;) and Vhadlo Shigmo (&#8220;big Shigmo&#8221;). Dhakto Shigmo is generally celebrated by farmers (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u0915\u093f\u0938\u093e\u0928<\/span> &#8211; Kisaan), the labor class and the rural population (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u091c\u0928\u0938\u0902\u0916\u094d\u092f\u093e<\/span> &#8211; Jansankhya) and celebration usually include folk songs and folk dances (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u0928\u0943\u0924\u094d\u092f<\/span> &#8211; Nrtya), while Vhadlo Shigmo is of greater significance (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u092e\u0939\u0924\u094d\u0935<\/span> &#8211; Mahatv) and is celebrated by everyone together and celebrated at the temples which attract a large number of devotees (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u092d\u0915\u094d\u0924<\/span> &#8211; Bhakt) and tourists (<span class=\"gt-card-ttl-txt\">\u092a\u0930\u094d\u092f\u091f\u0915<\/span> &#8211; Paryatak).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Shigmotsav (Shigmo) 2015 - Ponda, Goa\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/csH42SLQ3aI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During celebrations, Naman are songs sung in chorus during the festival and thousands of people thronged the streets to witness the Romtamell, folk dances and the floats. Various groups were seen dancing to the beats of the dhol and taso and singing folk songs to the accompaniment of drums.
