Let&#8217;s extend this to counting the days of the lunar cycle, and an introduction to ordinal numbers. The names for the days of the waxing\/waning moon phase are &#8220;ordinal&#8221; in nature and are referred to by words that indicate their &#8220;position&#8221; or &#8220;order&#8221; in the lunar phase (waxing or waning).<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Hindu lunar month<\/strong> is called <span class=\"shortcode-highlight\">\u0939\u093f\u0928\u094d\u0926\u0942\u00a0\u092e\u093e\u0938\/\u092e\u0939\u0940\u0928\u093e<\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight-->. It is comprised of\u00a0two fortnights &#8212; the period of the <strong>waning moon<\/strong> <span class=\"shortcode-highlight\">\u0915\u0943\u0937\u094d\u0923 \u092a\u0915\u094d\u0937<\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight--> (<em>Krishna paksh<\/em>)\u00a0and the period of the <strong>waxing moon<\/strong>\u00a0<span class=\"shortcode-highlight\">\u0936\u0941\u0915\u094d\u0932 \u092a\u0915\u094d\u0937<\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight--> <em>(Shukla<\/em> paksha).\u00a0\u0915\u0943\u0937\u094d\u0923 \u092a\u0915\u094d\u0937 ends in the <strong>new moon<\/strong> <span class=\"shortcode-highlight\">\u0905\u092e\u093e\u0935\u093e\u0938\u094d\u092f\u093e<\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight-->\u00a0(<em>amavasya<\/em>) while the\u00a0\u0936\u0941\u0915\u094d\u0932 \u092a\u0915\u094d\u0937 ends in <span class=\"shortcode-highlight\">\u092a\u0942\u0930\u094d\u0923\u093f\u092e\u093e<\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight-->\u00a0(<em>poornima<\/em>) or <strong>full moon<\/strong> night. In Bollywood movies you will often hear the full moon night referred to as <span class=\"shortcode-highlight\">\u092a\u0942\u0928\u092e \u0915\u0940 \u0930\u093e\u0924<\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight-->\u00a0(<em>poonam ki raat<\/em>), when lovers plan rendezvous in the moonshine.<\/p>\n<p>Both, the\u00a0\u0915\u0943\u0937\u094d\u0923 \u092a\u0915\u094d\u0937 and \u0936\u0941\u0915\u094d\u0932 \u092a\u0915\u094d\u0937 have 15 days each, or a fortnight. class=\"shortcode-highlight\">\u0926\u0936\u092e\u0940<\/span><!--\/.shortcode-highlight-->, and so forth.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>For
