(<strong>\u0928\u092e\u0938\u094d\u0924\u0947<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>Today we&#8217;ll take at the gender of Hindi nouns and I&#8217;ll give examples of some sentences that show the change in gender of nouns.<\/p>\n<p>Hindi nouns are either masculine or feminine.<\/p>\n<p>Masculine nouns often end in \u0101. Example: <strong>\u0932\u0921\u093c\u0915\u093e<\/strong>\u00a0 (boy), <strong>\u0930\u093e\u091c\u093e\u00a0<\/strong> king<\/p>\n<p>However, there are masculine nouns that don&#8217;t end in \u0101. <strong>\u0918\u0930<\/strong>\u00a0 (house), <strong>\u0906\u0926\u092e\u0940<\/strong>\u00a0 man<\/p>\n<p>Many feminine nouns end in \u012b. Example: <strong>\u0932\u0921\u093c\u0915\u0940<\/strong>\u00a0 (girl), <strong>\u0917\u093e\u0921\u093c\u0940<\/strong> car<\/p>\n<p>Again, not all feminine nouns end in \u012b. <strong>\u092e\u093e\u0924\u093e\u00a0<\/strong> mother, <strong>\u0915\u093f\u0924\u093e\u092c\u00a0<\/strong> book<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u092e\u0948\u0902 \u0932\u0921\u093c\u0915\u093e \u0939\u0942\u0901<\/strong>\u00a0 I am a boy (where the noun &#8216;boy&#8217; is in the masculine)<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u092e\u0948\u0902 \u0932\u0921\u093c\u0915\u0940 \u0939\u0942\u0901\u00a0<\/strong> I am a girl (where the noun &#8216;girl&#8217; is in the feminine)<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u092e\u0948\u0902 <\/strong>= I, <strong>\u0939\u0942\u0901<\/strong> = am, <strong>\u0932\u0921\u093c\u0915\u093e <\/strong>= boy. In Hindi the verb is placed at the end of the sentence. So in Hindi, &#8216;I am a boy&#8217; will be &#8216;I boy am&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>In Hindi, the pronouns do not tell us much about the gender of a person or thing. Therefore, the noun will reflect whether the thing or person alluded to are feminine or masculine. Take a look at these examples:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0935\u0939 \u0932\u0921\u093c\u0915\u093e \u0939\u0948<\/strong>\u00a0 he is a boy<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0935\u0939 \u0932\u0921\u093c\u0915\u0940 \u0939\u0948<\/strong> she is\u00a0a girl<\/p>\n<p>With the two examples above, vah (<strong>\u0935\u0939<\/strong>) which is the pronoun for he or she, is exactly the same, with only the noun giving us any indication of gender.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Namaste!
