Tapori adds nuances <strong>\u092c\u093e\u0930\u0940\u0915\u093f\u092f\u094b\u0902<\/strong> of flavor. It is in essence <strong>\u0938\u0902\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0947\u092a \u092e\u0947\u0902<\/strong> the language of the street <strong>\u0938\u0921\u093c\u0915<\/strong> or the &#8216;footpath&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/hindi\/tapori-language\/\">The Tapori language<\/a> goes in hand in hand with Tapori culture <strong>\u0938\u0902\u0938\u094d\u0915\u0943\u0924\u093f<\/strong>. Bollywood introduced this culture in the seventies with the famous actor Raj Kapoor in the film Shree 420.\u00a0 Currently, it is common to see the character in films and many are box office hits.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Tapori Mentality<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Sanjay Dutt, a well-known <strong>\u092a\u094d\u0930\u0938\u093f\u0926\u094d\u0927<\/strong> Bollywood actor, portrays<strong> \u091a\u093f\u0924\u094d\u0930\u0923<\/strong> a Tapori in a couple of films \u2013 Munnabhai MBBS and Vaastav. In Vaastav, his character is moral<strong> \u0928\u093f\u0937\u094d\u200d\u0915\u0930\u094d\u0937<\/strong> and honest <strong>\u0908\u092e\u093e\u0928\u0926\u093e\u0930<\/strong> but due to circumstances<strong> \u092a\u0930\u093f\u0938\u094d\u0925\u093f\u0924\u093f\u092f\u094b\u0902<\/strong>, he slides into dishonesty<strong> \u092c\u0947\u0908\u092e\u093e\u0928\u0940 <\/strong>and gang culture. Sanjay, in this role, represents most of the poor uneducated <strong>\u0905\u0928\u092a\u0922\u093c<\/strong> \u00a0Indian youth of Mumbai. These youth are drawn like magnets into gangs<strong> \u0917\u093f\u0930\u094b\u0939<\/strong> and gang culture. They come into the city with big dreams<strong> \u0938\u092a\u0928\u0947<\/strong> inspired by the movies they watch. They find city life <strong>\u0928\u0917\u0930 \u091c\u0940\u0935\u0928<\/strong> is not at all like the movies and so slip into this way of life and subculture <strong>\u0909\u092a\u0938\u0902\u0938\u094d\u0915\u0943\u0924\u093f<\/strong> very easily.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes <strong>\u0915\u092d\u0940 \u0915\u092d\u0940<\/strong> the Tapori\u2019s goals are to attain the status<strong> \u0938\u094d\u0925\u093f\u0924\u093f<\/strong> of a Bhai. Bhai <strong>\u092d\u093e\u0908<\/strong> means &#8216;brother&#8217; in Hindi; however, it is also used for &#8216;gang lord&#8217;. It is hard to distinguish <strong>\u092d\u0947\u0926 <\/strong>the character of a Tapori. The lines are blurred between a street thug <strong>\u0920\u0917<\/strong> and a neighborhood protector. The Tapori can be both.<\/p>\n<p>Tapori&#8217;s are the Indian version <strong>\u092d\u093e\u0930\u0924\u0940\u092f \u0938\u0902\u0938\u094d\u0915\u0930\u0923<\/strong> of Robinhood. Tapori culture takes care of the middle ground between illegal and legal <strong>\u0905\u0935\u0948\u0927 \u0914\u0930 \u0915\u093e\u0928\u0942\u0928\u0940.\u00a0 <\/strong>The culture closes the gap between instability and stability, <strong>\u0905\u0938\u094d\u0925\u093f\u0930\u0924\u093e \u0914\u0930 \u0938\u094d\u0925\u093f\u0930\u0924\u093e<\/strong>, and peace and chaos <strong>\u0936\u093e\u0902\u0924\u093f \u0914\u0930 \u0905\u0930\u093e\u091c\u0915\u0924\u093e<\/strong> arising out of life for these uneducated youth.<\/p>\n<p>Taporis dress with a certain flair <strong>\u0915\u0941\u091b \u0938\u094d\u0935\u092d\u093e\u0935<\/strong>. They wear shirts unbuttoned to reveal a \u2018ganji\u2019 &#8216;<strong>\u0917\u0902\u091c\u0940<\/strong>&#8216; or sleeveless white undershirt and a bandana tied around their neck <strong>\u0917\u0930\u094d\u0926\u0928<\/strong>. They do wear flip-flops or in certain cases sneakers <strong>\u091c\u0942\u0924\u0947<\/strong> depending on how successful <strong>\u0938\u092b\u0932 <\/strong>they are. Prominent <strong>\u092a\u094d\u0930\u092e\u0941\u0916<\/strong> film stars in Mumbai not only adopt<strong> \u0905\u092a\u0928\u093e\u0928\u0947<\/strong> this style for events but also speak Tapori language during an interview <strong>\u0938\u093e\u0915\u094d\u0937\u093e\u0924\u094d\u0915\u093e\u0930<\/strong> with the press.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Speech reflects Status<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>India is a society not only based <strong>\u0906\u0927\u093e\u0930\u093f\u0924<\/strong> on class but caste <strong>\u091c\u093e\u0924\u093f<\/strong> as well.\u00a0 A person&#8217;s language, accent, and dress usually reflect <strong>\u092a\u094d\u0930\u0924\u093f\u092c\u093f\u0902\u092c\u093f\u0924<\/strong> their class and caste in this society. Upper classes\/castes despise <strong>\u0924\u0941\u091a\u094d\u091b<\/strong>\u00a0 Taporis, but thanks to Bollywood culture, this same class\/caste now looks upon it with humor <strong>\u0939\u093e\u0938\u094d\u092f<\/strong>. Standard Hindi <strong>\u092e\u093e\u0928\u0915 \u0939\u093f\u0902\u0926\u0940<\/strong> reflects the upper class while Tapori Hindi reflects the lower, uneducated classes. If someone who is from an upper-class <strong>\u0909\u091a\u094d\u091a \u0935\u0930\u094d\u0917<\/strong> \u00a0uses Tapori, it is usually to endear themselves to people of the lower classes.
