I chose to show you this bookstore because unlike a lot of sites, while this one does openly ship outside of Iceland and doesn&#8217;t require a kennitala (SSN), the entire website is still in Icelandic. There&#8217;s probably mistakes somewhere in this post, as always, so don&#8217;t take everything to heart &#8211; but it&#8217;s good enough to help you navigate anyway.<\/p>\n<p>This bookstore sells old books, not just from Iceland but from other countries as well (including the Faroe Islands) and they also ship abroad. Here&#8217;s a messy image I made to help you figure things out:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i958.photobucket.com\/albums\/ae69\/JuicyPuffin\/Living%20in%20Iceland\/corrected.png\" aria-label=\"Corrected\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"height: 400px\"  alt=\"\" \/ src=\"http:\/\/i958.photobucket.com\/albums\/ae69\/JuicyPuffin\/Living%20in%20Iceland\/corrected.png\"><\/a><br \/>\n(The image has been corrected by <a href=\"http:\/\/icelandiclanguage.tumblr.com\">icelandiclanguage<\/a> &#8211; they&#8217;ve helped me out more than anyone else on Icelandic actually, no one else has ever regularly corrected me!)<\/p>\n<p>After registering:<br \/>\nSta\u00f0festing \u00e1 a\u00f0gangi hefur veri\u00f0 send \u00e1 netfangi\u00f0 \u00feitt. \/ Confirmation of registration has been sent to your Email address.<br \/>\nEf sta\u00f0festing kemur ekki innan f\u00e1rra m\u00edn\u00fatna, haf\u00f0u \u00fe\u00e1 samband vi\u00f0 okkur. \/ If the confirmation doesn&#8217;t come in the following (a few) minutes, get in contact with us.<\/p>\n<p>The following list of words is taken directly from the site, <em>I didn&#8217;t put them in nominative (dictionary) case or change them in any way<\/em>. This is only to make your shopping experience easier.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d3bundin &#8211; This looks like it means &#8220;unbound&#8221;, but I bought a book from them with this label and it was actually staple-bound. Perhaps it means &#8220;not hard-bound&#8221;, as the other two books I bought were labeled as bound but were both hard-bound.<br \/>\nForlagsband &#8211; bound (physically) by a publisher. The staple-bound book I talked about above seems to have been hand-bound by someone who printed the book himself, and no publisher, editor, or translator is listed even though a date, city, and store is &#8211; this gives the impression that it was just the owner of the store who bound it. The hard-bound books were done properly by a publishing company, though.<br \/>\nK\u00e1pa &#8211; dustjacket<br \/>\nVer\u00f0 &#8211; price<br \/>\nkr. &#8211; &#8220;kr\u00f3nur&#8221;, crowns (ISK).<br \/>\nAfgrei\u00f0slut\u00edmi &#8211; handling time<br \/>\n1-3 dagar (1-3 days)<br \/>\nTungum\u00e1l &#8211; language<br \/>\n\u00cdslenska &#8211; Icelandic<br \/>\nEnska &#8211; English<br \/>\n\u00c1stand &#8211; condition\/status<br \/>\nSem n\u00fdtt eintak \u00ed g\u00f3\u00f0u rex\u00ednbandi &#8211; like-new copy in good <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rexine\">rexine-binding<\/a>.
