Muslims in Indonesia welcome the month of blessing with excitement. It is the month when Muslims truly devote their time to performing good deeds and religious activities, such as increasing prayer (\u2018sembahyang\u2019), Quran recitation, and giving in charity. Interestingly, though, Indonesians prefer to spend their time before fast-breaking time outside the house, engaging in <em>ngabuburit<\/em> while waiting for the call to Maghrib prayer (Shalat Maghrib), and the time to break\u00a0their\u00a0fast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/indonesian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2016\/05\/shalatIed_TantiRuwani.jpg\" aria-label=\"ShalatIed TantiRuwani 300x200\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1801\"  alt=\"shalatIed_TantiRuwani\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/indonesian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2016\/05\/shalatIed_TantiRuwani-300x200.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>image: Tanti Ruwani\/flickr\/all creative commons<\/p>\n<p><em>Ngabuburit<\/em> is originally a Sundanese word, which means to\u00a0seek amusement and distractions from hunger and thirst while waiting for the\u00a0day&#8217;s fast to end at dusk, which\u00a0has become a tradition in Indonesia; the word itself has officially become Indonesian vocabulary in the Great Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI). An individual or group can engage in <em>ngabuburit<\/em>,\u00a0which typically involves activities such as watching TV at home, going out driving, walking, strolling at the mall, or reciting the Quran at the mosque (membaca Al Quran di masjid).
