They can be made into juices, such as the delicious <em>jus alpukat<\/em> (avocado juice). It sounds healthy, but keep in mind that Indonesians like to add a fair amount of chocolate syrup and condensed milk. It might not be the healthiest drink, but it sure is delicious!<\/p>\n<p>People also like to eat fried fruit &#8211; you&#8217;ll always find a fried fruit stand in an Indonesian market. Try some <em>pisang goreng<\/em> (fried bananas), which are a very popular snack. It&#8217;s also popular to cook fruit into cakes, such as <em>bika ambon<\/em>. They can also be sweetened and preserved into <em>manisan buah<\/em> (candied fruit), or made into <em>keripik<\/em> (chips).<\/p>\n<p>One interesting way that fruit is used in Indonesian cooking is the common dish known as <em>rujak<\/em>. This is basically a fruit salad, but the kicker is the spicy palm sugar sauce that you put on it. There are <em>rujak<\/em> vendors on streets all across Indonesia, with different varieties on different islands. If you aren&#8217;t in Indonesia, why not try to make it yourself?
