While many people across Indonesia will celebrate Valentine’s Day, there’s no love lost for this holiday in many parts of the country. As a matter of fact, it has even been banned in the city of Banda Aceh<\/a> as the mayor declared it violates Islamic law. There will be no chocolates or flowers given in this city in north Sumatra, as police will be patrolling the streets to ensure the ban is upheld. Protests have also occurred in several other cities in recent years against the holiday. That being said, plenty of lovebirds will still celebrate Valentine’s Day in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
