How\u2019s it going?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Vamos aprender mais alguns falsos cognatos?<\/p>\n<p>Nosso primeiro falso cognato \u00e9 <em>to pretend<\/em>. <em>To pretend<\/em> inicialmente nos lembra de pretender, ter a inten\u00e7\u00e3o de fazer algo. Por\u00e9m, ele tem um significado muito diferente: fingir!<\/p>\n<p>Alguns exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>She put her earphones on and <strong>pretended <\/strong>to be listening to music so her mother wouldn\u2019t bug her.<\/em> (Ela colocou seus fones de ouvidos e fingiu estar escutando m\u00fasica para que sua m\u00e3e n\u00e3o a importunasse.)<br \/>\n<em>He sat over a book and <strong>pretended <\/strong>to study. <\/em>(Ele se sentou com um livro e fingiu estudar.)<br \/>\n<em>He <strong>pretended <\/strong>to be a doctor, but actually he was a nurse.<\/em> (Ele fingia ser m\u00e9dico, mas na verdade era enfermeiro.)<\/p>\n<p>Usamos o verbo to intend para dizer \u201cpretender\u201d. Uma dica: lembre-se de que quem pretende, tem uma inten\u00e7\u00e3o, uma intention, ent\u00e3o voc\u00ea intend to do something, pretende fazer algo. Veja um exemplo:<\/p>\n<p><em>I <strong>intend <\/strong>to study French next year. <\/em>(Pretendo estudar ingl\u00eas ano que vem.)<\/p>\n<p><em>OK, let\u2019s move on!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Muita gente se confunde, em viagens internacionais, quando v\u00ea nas portas dos estabelecimentos escrita a palavra <em>Push<\/em>. Imediatamente a pessoa, que n\u00e3o sabe muito ingl\u00eas, puxa. E \u00e9 claro que a porta n\u00e3o abre. <em>To push<\/em> \u00e9 empurrar, e n\u00e3o puxar. Alguns exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>We need to <strong>push <\/strong>this table to the side to make some space. <\/em>(Precisamos empurrar esta mesa para o lado para termos mais espa\u00e7o.)<br \/>\n<em>That window is stuck \u2013 you have to <strong>push <\/strong>it hard to open it. <\/em>(Essa janela est\u00e1 emperrada \u2013 voc\u00ea tem que empurrar forte para abri-la.)<\/p>\n<p>Para dizer puxar, use o verbo <em>to pull<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Pull <\/strong>the door from the outside to open it.<\/em> (Puxe a porta do lado de for a para abri-la.)<br \/>\n<em>She was drowning and a lifeguard <strong>pulled <\/strong>her out of the water. <\/em>(Ela estava se afogando e um salva-vidas a puxou para fora da \u00e1gua.)<\/p>\n<p>Sabemos que um resumo \u00e9 um sum\u00e1rio, uma s\u00edntese de ideias. Em ingl\u00eas temos a palavra <em>resume<\/em>, que nada tem a ver com resumo e sim quer dizer retomar ou recome\u00e7ar uma a\u00e7\u00e3o.
