Hoje vamos aprender e revisar alguns phrasal verbs<\/em> bem comuns com o verbo to work<\/em> (trabalhar). Este post ter\u00e1 duas partes pois h\u00e1 v\u00e1rios phrasal verbs<\/em>, ok?<\/p>\n

1. work against<\/strong> – trabalhar contra (algo ou algu\u00e9m), ser contraproducente
\nInexperience can work against you if you’re looking for a job.<\/em> – A inexperi\u00eancia pode trabalhar contra voc\u00ea se voc\u00ea est\u00e1 procurando um emprego.<\/p>\n

2. work around (something)<\/strong> – dar um jeito (em algo restrito), lidar com restri\u00e7\u00f5es
\nA skilled teacher can work around those classroom problems.<\/em> – Um professor experiente pode lidar com esse problemas de sala de aula.<\/p>\n

3. work at (something)<\/strong> – esfor\u00e7ar-se em conseguir ou fazer algo
\nYou need to work at speaking more fluently. <\/em>– Voc\u00ea precisa se esfor\u00e7ar em falar mais fluentemente.
\nYou have to work at your relationship for it to succeed. <\/em>– Voc\u00ea precisa investir na sua rela\u00e7\u00e3o para ela funcionar.<\/p>\n

4. work something in \/ work in something <\/strong>– 1. esfregar subst\u00e2ncia at\u00e9 desaparecer. 2. conseguir incluir (texto, atividade, etc.)
\nSmear the ointment on your skin and work it in with your fingers. <\/em>– Espalhe a pomada na sua pele e esfregue com seus deles at\u00e9 ela desaparecer.
\nDid you manage to work in the new stats in? <\/em>– Voc\u00ea conseguiu incluir as novas estat\u00edsticas no seu texto?<\/p>\n

Obs. Quando dizemos para onde esfregamos a pomada ou se mencionamos o texto, usamos a preposi\u00e7\u00e3o into<\/strong>:
\nWork the ointment into your skin.<\/em> – Espalhe a pomada at\u00e9 desaparecer na sua pele.
\nI managed to work the new stats into my text. <\/em>– Consegui incluir as novas estat\u00edsticas no meu texto.<\/p>\n

5. work oneself into<\/strong> – colocar-se (numa situa\u00e7\u00e3o), ficar, tornar-se
\nWhen I arrived there, he had worked himself into a rage.<\/em> – Quando eu cheguei l\u00e1, ele estava furioso.
\nHe worked himself into exhaustion trying to pull double shifts to pay off his house. <\/em>– Ele trabalhava at\u00e9 a exaust\u00e3o, tentando fazer dois turnos para pagar sua casa.<\/p>\n

\nThat machine works off hidden sensors. <\/em>– Aquela m\u00e1quina funciona com sensores ocultos.<\/p>\n

7. work on something <\/strong>– 1. passar tempo trabalhando em algo. 2. esfor\u00e7ar-se em fazer algo. 3. depender de algo para que outra atividade d\u00ea certo.
\nThey’re working on the cure for arthritis. <\/em>– Est\u00e3o trabalhando na cura da artrite.
\nYou need to work on your public speaking skills.<\/em> – Voc\u00ea precisa melhorar suas habilidades de falar em p\u00fablico.
\nI’m working on the assumption that he’s going to drive during the trip, because my leg is broken.<\/em> – Estou trabalhando com a suposi\u00e7\u00e3o de que ele vai dirigir durante a viagem, pois minha perna est\u00e1 quebrada.<\/p>\n
