Nesse caso, usamos o verbo no <em>Simple Past<\/em>. Veja alguns exemplos e perceba que traduzimos <em>to wish <\/em>como &#8220;gostaria&#8221;.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I <strong>wish <\/strong>I <strong>knew <\/strong>how to speak French. &#8211; Gostaria de saber falar franc\u00eas. (Da\u00ed eu poderia assistir filmes franceses sem legendas.)<\/li>\n<li>I <strong>wish <\/strong>you <strong>didn&#8217;t have<\/strong> to go so soon. &#8211; Gostaria que voc\u00ea n\u00e3o tivesse que ir t\u00e3o cedo. (Mas voc\u00ea tem que ir.)<\/li>\n<li>Do you ever <strong>wish <\/strong>you <strong>lived <\/strong>somewhere else? &#8211; Voc\u00ea \u00e0s vezes gostaria de morar em outro lugar?<\/li>\n<li>My brother is going on a cruise in March. I <strong>wish <\/strong>I <strong>was <\/strong>going too. &#8211; Meu irm\u00e3o vai fazer um cruzeiro em mar\u00e7o. Eu gostaria de ir tamb\u00e9m. (Mas por alguma raz\u00e3o n\u00e3o posso.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Quando expressamos arrependimento de algo que ocorreu no passado e n\u00e3o podemos mudar o resultado usamos a forma wish + verbo no <em>Past Perfect<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I <strong>wish <\/strong>I&#8217;<strong>d known<\/strong> about the party. I would&#8217;ve gone if I&#8217;d known. &#8211; Gostaria de ter sabido da festa. Teria ido se tivesse sabido.<\/li>\n<li>I <strong>wish <\/strong>you&#8217;<strong>d come<\/strong> earlier, now we&#8217;re too late to go to the movies. &#8211; Gostaria que voc\u00ea tivesse vindo mais cedo, agora est\u00e1 muito tarde para ir ao cinema.<\/li>\n<li>That was a very rude thing to say. I <strong>wish <\/strong>you <strong>hadn&#8217;t said<\/strong> that. &#8211; Foi algo muito grosseiro de se dizer. Gostaria que voc\u00ea n\u00e3o tivesse dito isso.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Por \u00faltimo, usamos a forma <em>wish + would(n&#8217;t)<\/em> quando gostar\u00edamos que algo acontecesse ou mudasse ou para reclamar sobre a\u00e7\u00f5es que as pessoas fazem (muitas vezes repetidamente).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>I <strong>wish <\/strong>it <strong>would stop<\/strong> raining. I really need to go out.<\/em> &#8211; Gostaria que parasse de chover. Realmente tenho de sair.<\/li>\n<li><em>The phone&#8217;s been ringing for five minutes. I <strong>wish <\/strong>somebody <strong>would answer<\/strong> it. <\/em>&#8211; O telefone est\u00e1 tocando faz cinco minutos. Gostaria que algu\u00e9m o atendesse.<\/li>\n<li><em>I <strong>wish <\/strong>you <strong>would do<\/strong> something instead of only looking at me. <\/em>&#8211; Gostaria que voc\u00ea fizesse algo em vez de s\u00f3 olhar para mim.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>This is it for today!
