\nO primeiro emprego de Jack foi de assistente. Agora ele \u00e9 chef\u00e3o na sua empresa.<\/p>\n

Al\u00e9m de big wig<\/strong> (lit. peruca grande), podemos usar os termos big cheese, big shot, biggie, boss man \/ boss lady, chief, exec, head honcho, higher ups, top brass \/ big brass \/ brass, top dog<\/em><\/p>\n

2. to get called on the carpet <\/strong>– levar uma reprimenda (de um chefe), ser advertido<\/p>\n

One more error and you’ll get called on the carpet.<\/em>
\nMais um erro e voc\u00ea vai ser advertido.<\/p>\n

Al got called on the carpet for wasting time at work.<\/em>
\nAl foi repreendido por perder tempo no trabalho.<\/p>\n

Com o mesmo sentido tamb\u00e9m usamos as express\u00f5es to get bawled out, to get chewed out<\/em> e to get raked over the coals<\/em>.<\/p>\n

3. to can (someone)<\/strong> – demitir (algu\u00e9m)<\/p>\n

He always got to work late, so the boss canned him.<\/em>
\nEle sempre chegava tarde no trabalho, ent\u00e3o o chefe o demitiu.<\/p>\n

Express\u00f5es similares: to get canned, to give someone the axe, to give someone the boot, to boot someone out<\/em><\/p>\n

4. to get cracking<\/strong> – come\u00e7ar a trabalhar<\/p>\n
