Por exemplo, se a pessoa em quem voc\u00ea est\u00e1 interessado(a) te convida para ir ao cinema voc\u00ea diz:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>I may go to the movies tonight.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Agora, se aquela prima chata te chama para ir ao cinema, voc\u00ea n\u00e3o exclui a possibilidade porque, fam\u00edlia \u00e9 fam\u00edlia, e voc\u00ea pode dizer:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>I might go to the movies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Na frase acima a possibilidade \u00e9 bem remota, mas tudo pode acontecer, <em>right<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Veja mais alguns exemplos:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>He may (might) be in the director&#8217;s office.<\/em> [Ele pode estar na sala do diretor.]<br \/>\n<em>He may (might) be in the bathroom.<\/em> [Ele pode estar no banheiro.]<br \/>\n<em>She may not (might not) be interested.<\/em> [Ela pode n\u00e3o estar interessada.]<br \/>\n<em>I don&#8217;t know what I&#8217;ll do tonight. I might (may) go to the movies.<\/em> [N\u00e3o sei o que vou fazer hoje \u00e0 noite. Talvez eu v\u00e1 ao cinema.]<br \/>\n<em>May I say a word of thanks to all those who helped today?<\/em> [Poderia fazer um agradecimento a todos que ajudaram hoje?]<br \/>\n<em>May I suggest a better idea?<\/em> [Poderia sugerir uma ideia melhor?]<br \/>\n<em>Let me, if I may, introduce you to my manager, Jim Doyle.<\/em> [Permita-me, por gentileza, apresentar-lhe ao meu gerente, Jim Doyle.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>May <\/strong>e <strong>might <\/strong>(em propor\u00e7\u00e3o bem menor) tamb\u00e9m podem ser usados para pedir ou dar permiss\u00e3o, da mesma forma que <strong>can <\/strong>e <strong>could<\/strong>. Conv\u00e9m salientar que <strong>might <\/strong>\u00e9 extremamente formal e quase n\u00e3o \u00e9 usado com este sentido.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>May I smoke here?<\/em> [Posso fumar aqui?]<br \/>\n<em>May I borrow your pen?<\/em> [Posso pegar sua caneta emprestado?]<br \/>\n<em>May I come in?<\/em> [Posso entrar?]<br \/>\n<em>May I ask you a question?<\/em> [Posso lhe fazer uma pergunta?]<br \/>\n<em>May I speak to Sam? <\/em>[Posso falar com Sam?]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Usamos <strong>might <\/strong>tamb\u00e9m para fazer uma sugest\u00e3o ou expressar que voc\u00ea est\u00e1 bravo com a atitude de algu\u00e9m:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>You might like to see what we\u2019ve done to the garden.<\/em> [Voc\u00ea vai gostar de ver o que fizemos com o jardim.]<br \/>\n<em>I thought we might have a walk around town. <\/em>[Poder\u00edamos ir dar uma volta na cidade.]<br \/>\n<em>He might have warned me he was going to be late.<\/em> [Ele poderia ter me avisado que ia se atrasar.]<br \/>\n<em>In future you might try to be a little more polite.<\/em> [No futuro, voc\u00ea poderia ser mais educado.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Podemos usar <strong>may <\/strong>e <strong>might <\/strong>com algumas express\u00f5es fixas:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>What a very attractive dress, if I may say so!<\/em> [Que vestido lindo, permita-me dizer!]<br \/>\n<em>I sacrificed a lot, I may say, to help him.<\/em> [Sacrifiquei muito, devo dizer, para ajud\u00e1-lo.]<br \/>\n<em>We may as well go home.
