O t\u00edtulo \u00e9 s\u00f3 uma desculpa para voc\u00ea se animar a ler este post, que vai falar sobre o verbo to fall<\/em>, cair. Bom, todo mundo, sem exce\u00e7\u00e3o j\u00e1 caiu alguma vez na vida, ent\u00e3o vamos aprender como dizer isso em ingl\u00eas.<\/p>\n

Quando estamos em p\u00e9, e ca\u00edmos, usamos a forma to fall down<\/strong>. Veja alguns exemplos:<\/p>\n

There’s ice on the ground, and you need to be careful or you’ll fall down<\/strong>. <\/em>[Tem gelo no ch\u00e3o e voc\u00ea precisa ter cuidado ou vai cair.]<\/p>\n

A: Why is he crying?<\/em> [Por que ele est\u00e1 chorando?]
\nB: He fell down<\/strong> and hurt his knee.<\/em> [Ele caiu e machucou o joelho.]<\/p>\n

Geralmente n\u00e3o colocamos mais nada na frente de fall down<\/strong>. Dizemos somente “I fell down<\/em>“. Mas podemos dizer onde ca\u00edmos: I fell down the stairs.<\/em> [Ca\u00ed na escada.]. Podemos ainda dar um complemento: I fell down and broke my leg. <\/em>[Ca\u00ed e quebrei minha perna.]<\/p>\n

Aproveitando que estamos falando de cair, quero que voc\u00ea tamb\u00e9m aprenda as formas fall off <\/strong>(something) e fall out<\/strong> (of something). Se algo est\u00e1 em cima (ON) de algo, como uma mesa e cai, ela FALLS OFF. Exemplo:<\/p>\n

The book was on the table. When the earthquake hit, the book fell off <\/strong>(the table).<\/em>
\nO livro estava em cima da mesa. Quando come\u00e7ou o terremoto, o livro caiu (da mesa).<\/p>\n

His keys were in his pocket. When he was jogging, his keys fell out<\/strong> (of <\/strong>his pocket).<\/em>
\nAs chaves dele estavam no bolso. Quando ele estava correndo, as chaves ca\u00edram (do bolso).<\/p>\n

Mais um exemplo:<\/p>\n

A: What happened during the earthquake? <\/em>[O que aconteceu durante o terremoto?]
\nB: I stayed under a table and things fell off<\/strong> bookshelves and they fell out of kitchen cabinets. I was scared.<\/em> [Fiquei debaixo de uma mesa e as coisas ca\u00edram das estantes e ca\u00edram dos arm\u00e1rios da cozinha. Fiquei apavorado.]<\/p>\n

Para terminar, usamos a forma to fall over<\/strong> quando algu\u00e9m ou algo cai no ch\u00e3o:<\/p>\n

I slipped on the ice and fell over<\/strong>. <\/em>[Escorreguei no gelo e ca\u00ed.]
\nThe lamp fell over<\/strong> as the children were playing in the room.<\/em> [O abajur caiu enquanto as crian\u00e7as estavam brincando na sala.]<\/p>\n
