\nOr believe strongly in what you\u2019re saying?
\nInvisible question marks and parenthetical (you know?)\u2019s
\nhave been attaching themselves to the ends of our sentences?
\nEven when those sentences aren\u2019t, like, questions? You know?<\/p>\n
\nbecause they used to, like, DECLARE things to be true, okay,
\nas opposed to other things are, like, totally, you know, not\u2014
\nhave been infected by a totally hip
\nand tragically cool interrogative tone? You know?
\nLike, don\u2019t think I\u2019m uncool just because I\u2019ve noticed this;
\nthis is just like the word on the street, you know?
\nIt\u2019s like what I\u2019ve heard?
\nI have nothing personally invested in my own opinions, okay?
\nI\u2019m just inviting you to join me in my uncertainty?<\/p>\n
\nWhere are the limbs out on which we once walked?
\nHave they been, like, chopped down
\nwith the rest of the rain forest?
\nOr do we have, like, nothing to say?
\nHas society become so, like, totally…

\nI challenge you: To speak with conviction.<\/p>\n
\nthe determination with which you believe it.
\nBecause contrary to the wisdom of the bumper sticker,
\nit is not enough these days to simply QUESTION AUTHORITY.
