Veja alguns exemplos:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Everybody came to the party, except Paul.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Except for Paul, everybody came to the party.<\/em><br \/>\nTodos vieram \u00e0 festa, exceto o Paul.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>All the guys were wearing a tuxedo, except John.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Except for John, all the guys were wearing a tuxedo.<\/em><br \/>\nTodos estavam usando smoking, menos o John.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>All the employees got a raise, except Bill and Tom.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Except for Bill and Tom, all the employees got a raise.<\/em><br \/>\nFora o Bill e o Tom, todos os empregados tiveram aumento.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Aten\u00e7\u00e3o!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Depois de palavras como <em>all, every, no, everything, anybody, nowhere, whole<\/em> etc., <strong>except<\/strong> e <strong>except for<\/strong> podem ser usados com o mesmo significado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>He ate everything on his plate except (for) the beans.<\/em> [Ele comeu tudo que estava no prato, menos o feij\u00e3o.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Em outros casos usamos <strong>except for<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>That was a good essay except for a few spelling mistakes.<\/em> [Foi uma boa reda\u00e7\u00e3o exceto por alguns erros de grafia.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Usamos <em>except<\/em>, n\u00e3o <em>except for<\/em>, antes de preposi\u00e7\u00f5es e conjun\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>He is good-looking except when he smiles.<\/em> (N\u00c3O \u2026 <del><em>except for when he smiles<\/em><\/del>.)
