1. As palavras whole<\/strong> e all<\/strong> s\u00e3o usadas com o mesmo significado. Por\u00e9m, a ordem das palavras \u00e9 diferente. All<\/strong> vem antes de um artigo, pronome possessivo ou outro ‘determiner’; whole<\/strong> vem depois dos artigos etc.<\/p>\n

all the time –\u00a0the whole time\u00a0[o tempo todo]<\/em>
\n<\/em>all my life –\u00a0my whole life\u00a0[minha vida inteira – toda minha vida]<\/em>

Lembre-se de que whole<\/strong> n\u00e3o pode ser usado com um substantivo no singular se n\u00e3o houver artigo ou outro determiner. Voc\u00ea pode dizer:<\/p>\n

The whole city was burning<\/em>, mas n\u00e3o pode dizer Whole London was burning<\/em>.<\/p>\n

2. Com substantivos no plural whole<\/strong> e all<\/strong> t\u00eam significados diferentes. Whole<\/strong> significa “completo”, “inteiro” e all<\/strong> tem um significado semelhante a “cada”.<\/p>\n

3. Whole<\/strong> n\u00e3o \u00e9 usado com tanta frequ\u00eancia com substantivos incont\u00e1veis e n\u00e3o podem ser usadas com substantivos coletivos. Voc\u00ea pode dizer all the money<\/em> ou all the wine<\/strong>, mas n\u00e3o the whole money<\/del> ou the whole wine<\/del>.<\/p>\n

4. A express\u00e3o the whole of<\/strong> pode ser usada com palavras no singular em vez de whole<\/strong>. The whole of<\/strong> vem antes de artigos, pronomes possessivos etc.<\/p>\n
