Quando for demonstrativo (aquele, aquela, esse, essa, isso) n\u00e3o pode ser omitido.<\/p>\n<p>Can you get me <strong>that<\/strong> book? &#8211; Pega aquele livro para mim?<br \/>\nWho&#8217;s <strong>that<\/strong>? &#8211; Quem \u00e9 aquele ali?<br \/>\nWho told you <strong>that<\/strong>? &#8211; Quem te disse isso?<\/p>\n<p>2. Usado como conjun\u00e7\u00e3o, pode ser omitido. Na linguagem falada sempre omitimos o that neste caso. Geralmente omitimos o <strong>that<\/strong> com verbos no passado como<em> learned, discovered, found (out), knew, felt, thought, said<\/em> e <strong>told<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I told you <em>(that)<\/em> I was tired. &#8211; Eu te disse que eu estava cansado.<br \/>\nShe said <em>(that)<\/em> she couldn&#8217;t come. &#8211; Ela disse que n\u00e3o poderia vir.<br \/>\nFred said <em>(that)<\/em> he was going to travel the next day. &#8211; O Fred disse que ia viajar no outro dia.<br \/>\nI discovered <em>(that)<\/em> Julian had borrowed my car without my permission. &#8211; Descobri que o Julian tinha pegado meu carro emprestado sem a minha permiss\u00e3o.<br \/>\nI felt <em>(that)<\/em> he was wrong to do this, but he thought it would be all right. &#8211; Senti que era errado ele fazer isso, mas ele achou que estava certo.<\/p>\n<p>3. Quando o <strong>that<\/strong> \u00e9 pronome relativo e vem antes de um sujeito, ele pode ser omitido. Se depois dele vier um verbo, n\u00e3o vamos omitir.<\/p>\n<p>The work <em>(that)<\/em> she does for this company is much appreciated. &#8211; O trabalho que ela faz para esta empresa \u00e9 muito reconhecido.<br \/>\nThe representatives of the company <em>(that)<\/em> I met in Portugal were very helpful. &#8211; Os representantes da empresa que eu conheci em Portugal foram muito prestativos.<br \/>\nI can&#8217;t believe the story <em>(that)<\/em> she told me. &#8211; N\u00e3o consigo acreditar na hist\u00f3ria que ela me contou.<\/p>\n<p>Where&#8217;s the chesse <strong>that<\/strong> was in the fridge? &#8211; Onde est\u00e1 o queijo que estava na geladeira?<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t like stories <strong>that<\/strong> have unhapy endings. &#8211; N\u00e3o gosto de hist\u00f3rias que t\u00eam finais infelizes.<br \/>\nShe works for a company <strong>that<\/strong> makes furniture. &#8211; Ela trabalha para uma empresa que faz m\u00f3veis.<br \/>\nThe machine <strong>that<\/strong> broke down is working again now. &#8211; A m\u00e1quina que quebrou est\u00e1 funcionando novamente agora.<\/p>\n<p>Voc\u00ea vai perceber, quando assistir filmes e s\u00e9ries, que raramente eles v\u00e3o usar o <strong>that<\/strong>, a n\u00e3o ser nos casos acima.
