How\u2019s it going?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nosso podcast de hoje vai falar sobre a forma\u00e7\u00e3o do plural dos substantivos em ingl\u00eas.<\/p>\n<p>A maioria dos substantivos forma seu plural acrescentando a letra \u2018s\u2019, igual a portugu\u00eas. Alguns exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>dog <\/em>(cachorro) \u2013 <em>dogs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>cat <\/em>(gato) \u2013 <em>cats<\/em><br \/>\n<em>girl <\/em>(menina) \u2013 <em>girls<\/em><br \/>\n<em>hat <\/em>(chap\u00e9u) \u2013 <em>hats<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Quando o substantivo termina em S, SH, CH, X, Z e O ele recebe a termina\u00e7\u00e3o \u2013es. Exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>glass <\/em>(copo) \u2013 <em>glasses<\/em><br \/>\n<em>bench <\/em>(banco) \u2013 <em>benches<\/em><br \/>\n<em>bush <\/em>(arbusto) \u2013 <em>bushes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>box <\/em>(caixa) \u2013 <em>boxes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>buzz <\/em>(zumbido) \u2013 <em>buzzes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>potato <\/em>(batata) \u2013 <em>potatoes<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Agora, quando o substantivo acabar em Y, existem duas situa\u00e7\u00f5es. Se o Y vier depois de uma vogal, acrescenta-se somente a letra \u2018s\u2019. Exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>boy <\/em>(menino) \u2013 <em>boys<\/em><br \/>\n<em>day <\/em>(dia) \u2013 <em>days<\/em><br \/>\n<em>key <\/em>(chave) \u2013 <em>keys<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Se o Y vier depois de uma consoante, retiramos o Y e acrescentamos a termina\u00e7\u00e3o IES. Exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>country <\/em>(pa\u00eds) \u2013 <em>countries<\/em><br \/>\n<em>fly <\/em>(mosca) \u2013 <em>flies<\/em><br \/>\n<em>strawberry <\/em>(morango) \u2013 <em>strawberries<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Quando o substantivo acaba em F ou FE, usamos a termina\u00e7\u00e3o VES. Exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>half <\/em>(metade) \u2013 <em>halves<\/em><br \/>\n<em>knife <\/em>(faca) \u2013 <em>knives<\/em><br \/>\n<em>leaf <\/em>(folha) \u2013 <em>leaves<\/em><br \/>\n<em>wife <\/em>(esposa) \u2013 <em>wives<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Existem algumas exce\u00e7\u00f5es:<\/p>\n<p><em>cliff <\/em>(penhasco) \u2013 <em>cliffs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>chief <\/em>(chefe) \u2013 <em>chiefs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>proof <\/em>(prova) \u2013 <em>proofs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>roof <\/em>(telhado) \u2013 <em>roofs<\/em><\/p>\n<p>O plural em ingl\u00eas tamb\u00e9m tem algumas irregularidades. Vejamos algumas bem comuns.<\/p>\n<p><em>foot <\/em>(p\u00e9) \u2013 <em>feet<\/em><br \/>\n<em>tooth <\/em>(dente) \u2013 <em>teeth<\/em><br \/>\n<em>man <\/em>(homem) \u2013 <em>men<\/em><br \/>\n<em>woman <\/em>(mulher) \u2013 <em>women<\/em><br \/>\n<em>mouse <\/em>(rato) \u2013 <em>mice<\/em><br \/>\n<em>person <\/em>(pessoa) \u2013 <em>people<\/em><\/p>\n<p>E por fim, h\u00e1 algumas palavras que n\u00e3o mudam quando s\u00e3o usadas no plural. Exemplos:<\/p>\n<p><em>sheep <\/em>(ovelha) \u2013 <em>sheep<\/em><br \/>\n<em>deer <\/em>(veado, cervo) \u2013 <em>deer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Well, this is it for today, people!
