bota<\/strong>, which also gives us \u201cbutrach,<\/strong>\u201d as a place where \u201cbota\u00ed<\/strong>\u201d would be prominent.\u00a0 Somewhat curiously though, I don\u2019t see any Irish word based specifically on \u201cbota<\/strong>\u201d that would be a close equivalent to \u201cscuttlebutt\u201d in its physical sense.\u00a0 As for the figurative meaning of \u201cscuttlebutt\u201d as \u201crumor\u201d or \u201cgossip,\u201d there\u2019s plenty in Irish, ach sin \u00e1bhar blag eile<\/strong> (but, for the tip of the iceberg, we could consider \u201cr\u00e1fla<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cc\u00falchaint<\/strong>\u201d)<\/p>\n

Finally, we end up with \u201ctonna<\/strong>,\u201d which, as I understand it would be for st\u00f3r\u00e1il na beorach<\/strong>, and dabhach<\/strong>, which would be for the process of gr\u00fadaireacht<\/strong> itself.<\/p>\n
