An interview – pt 2!

B: Second question: when all this ends, which cities would you recommend to an American tourist who is going to visit Italy for the first time? Let’s assume for a week.

G: Solo una settimana? E’ impossibile in una settimana vedere tutto! Però ok, mi piace come sfida!

G: Just a week? It is impossible to see everything in a week! But ok, I like this challenge! So, I would say that there are three cities that you absolutely must visit: Rome, Florence, Venice. Absolutely these three are famous in the whole world, and must be seen at least once in a lifetime. But I don’t deny that for example I’m not really fond of Venice. My advice, however, is to maybe go for a day.

The cities that I love are Bologna (I am biased because it is my city), Naples, Palermo, Turin and Milan, Genoa. Although as we say: “you still fall on your feet”, in the sense that Italy is fortunately full of enchanting cities, and there are many others worth a visit!

B: Concordo sulle tue osservazioni.

B: I agree with your comments. I would only add Ferrara, to which I am particularly attached. Third and one last question: can you tell us three Italian films that are part of Italian culture that we absolutely cannot miss, especially now that we have a lot of free time?

G: Te ne dico tre che non mi stanco mai di vedere;

G: I will tell you three that I never get tired of watching;

  • “La Vita è Bella”, di Benigni
  • “Tre Uomini e Una Gamba” film culto di Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo (every time I have see it I die laughing)
  • “Mediterraneo” di Salvatores

Then if we open the box of  Aldo Giovanni and Giacomo you’ll have to write three more blogs, because I love them. They are Italian comedians that make me laugh a lot!

B: Thank you so much Giovanni for the advice and for the nice chat. Let’s hope to see each other soon in Italy! A big hug.

Ciao!

G: Thanks to you Bridgette, a big hug to you too! I count on it, let’s hope to see each other very soon, as soon as all this ends. Bye!

Tocca a voi! Have you ever seen the movies Giovanni recommends? Have you been to the many cities he suggests that you visit? I cannot wait to return and see them all again!

Comments:

  1. Luc Juteau:

  2. Heather Sinclair:

    Sono d’accordo! Mi piace molto Bologna! sono Australiana e ci sono andata almeno sette volta. Mi piacciono molto i portici, eleganti e utili!

  3. Luc Juteau:

  4. Andre:

    Giovanni spero di incontrarti presto all’osteria dell’orso a Bologna.

  5. Mike:
