I was particularly taken by that phrase, and immediately\u00a0decided to adopt it as a blog theme.<br \/>\nSo, where better to begin than with one of the curliest of all Italian constructions: <strong>piacere<\/strong>. And to keep things nice and light, a song by the Italian <strong>cantautore<\/strong> (singer songwriter)<strong><span style=\"color: #000080\"> <a style=\"color: #000080\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alex_Britti\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Britti<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Now, we all know that the Italians have got the whole \u2018I like\u2019 thing completely back to front \u2026 but that\u2019s just the way it is and there\u2019s no way around it! So we gradually adjust to the idea of \u2018<strong>mi piace<\/strong>&#8216; (it pleases me) being the equivalent of &#8216;I like it&#8217;, and <strong>&#8216;mi piacciono&#8217;<\/strong> (they please me) meaning &#8216;I like them&#8217;. But these &#8216;curly conjugations&#8217; still keep tripping us up.
