Serena: \u201cBeh, intanto ho lavato i grappoli d\u2019uva e li ho messi nel colapasta a scolare. Ora scelgo gli acini che non sono rovinati e li stacco dal grappolo per farci la marmellata\u201d<\/strong>
\nSerena: \u201cWell, I’ve already washed the bunches of grapes and put them in the colander to drain. Now I\u2019m choosing the grapes that aren\u2019t ruined and removing them from the bunches to use them for the jam\u201d<\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cNo, prima li faccio raffreddare un po\u2019 e poi li passo al passaverdura per eliminare i semi\u201d<\/strong>
\nSerena: \u201cNo, first I let them cool down a little, and then I sieve them with the vegetable mill to remove the seeds\u201d<\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cA questo punto rimetto il pur\u00e8 d\u2019uva nella pentola, lo porto a bollore, ci aggiungo lo zucchero, il succo e la buccia di limone grattugiata e faccio bollire senza coperchio finch\u00e9 non ha raggiunto la giusta consistenza\u201d<\/strong>
\nSerena: \u201cNow I put the mashed grapes back in the saucepan, bring them to boiling point, add sugar, lemon juice and grated rind, and let it boil without a lid until it reaches the right consistency\u201d<\/p>\n

\nSerena: \u201cFor each kilo of cleaned grapes I add four hundred grams of sugar and the juice and rind of half an untreated lemon\u201d<\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cLa marmellata d\u2019uva ci mette parecchio ad addensarsi, circa un paio d\u2019ore. Bisogna stare attenti a non farla attaccare\u201d<\/strong>
\nSerena: \u201cGrape jam takes a long time to thicken, about a couple of hours. You must be careful not to let it stick to the pan\u201d<\/p>\n

Gigia: \u201cPoi immagino che la invasi come tutte le altre marmellate\u201d<\/strong>
\nGigia: \u201cThen I imagine you bottle it like all the other jams\u201d<\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cS\u00ec, la verso nei barattoli puliti come al solito. Per\u00f2 la lascio riposare per almeno un paio di settimane prima di mangiarla, perch\u00e9 la marmellata d\u2019uva ci mette un po\u2019 di tempo ad addensarsi. Pi\u00f9 resta l\u00ec e pi\u00f9 diventa dura. Per\u00f2 si mantiene bene a lungo, anche dopo due anni \u00e8 ancora ottima\u201d<\/strong>
\nSerena: \u201cYes, I pour it into clean jars as usual. But I leave it to settle for at least a couple of weeks before eating it, because grape jam takes some time to set. The longer you leave it the harder it becomes. However it keeps well for a long time, even after two years it\u2019s still very good\u201d<\/p>\n

Gigia: \u201cTanto lavoro solo per mangiare qualcosa! Voi umani proprio non vi capisco: io preferisco mangiarmi un bel fegatino di topo fresco che \u00e8 pronto in un attimo.\u201d<\/strong>
