Ogni medaglia ha il suo rovescio<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>, every cloud has a silver lining. The cloud is my miserable cold, and the silver lining is that you get to learn some useful vocabulary. So, now you can moan about how bad you feel in both English and Italian … lucky you …. etci\u00f9<\/strong>!!!<\/span>

Suona il telefono. Serena risponde con voce da moribonda: \u201cPronto?\u201d
\nThe telephone rings. Serena answers with the voice of a dying person: \u201cHello?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dall’altro capo del telefono c’\u00e8 una voce fioca e un po’ roca: \u201cCiao bella, sono Annalisa, come stai?\u201d
\nOn the other end of the telephone there’s a feeble and slightly hoarse voice: \u201cHello my dear, it’s Annalisa, how are you?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cMale! Ieri mattina mi sono svegliata con il mal di gola e il mal di testa. Non ho avuto l’influenza tutto l’inverno, e adesso che arriva la primavera mi ammalo, che scalogna!\u201d
\nSerena: \u201cBad! Yesterday morning I woke up with a sore throat and a headache. I haven’t had the flue all winter, and now that spring is coming I’m getting ill, what bad luck!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Annalisa: \u201cE s\u00ec, purtroppo \u00e8 cos\u00ec. Anche io e Claudio sono due settimane che stiamo male.\u201d
\nAnnalisa: \u201cYes, unfortunately that’s how it is. Claudio and I haven’t been well for the last two weeks either.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cIl peggio \u00e8 di notte, quando mi sdraio … non appena mi addormento mi vengono degli attacchi di tosse terribili, e ovviamente sveglio anche Geoff. Per calmare la tosse devo bere un mucchio di acqua, ormai mi sembra di annegare.\u201d
\nSerena: \u201cThe worst time is at night, when I lay down \u2026 as soon as I fall asleep I have terrible coughing fits, and of course I wake\u00a0Geoff up as well. To calm down the cough I have to drink loads of water, I feel like I’m drowning.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Annalisa: \u201cS\u00ec, anche Claudio ha avuto una tosse da morire. Io invece ho avuto la febbre e problemi intestinali \u2026 ho rimesso varie volte e poi ho avuto la sciolta. Adesso per fortuna tutto questo \u00e8 passato, ma mi \u00e8 rimasta una stanchezza enorme, mi sento tutta rotta.\u201d
\nAnnalisa: \u201cYea, Claudio had an awful cough too. I, on the other hand, had fever and intestinal problems \u2026 I threw up several times and then had the runs. Now it’s all gone fortunately, but it’s left me extremely tired, I feel like I’m all broken.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cHai preso qualcosa per aiutarti?\u201d
\nSerena: \u201cHave you taken something to help you?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Annalisa: \u201cHo usato le gocce del rimedio di Bach, e mi sono fatta il decotto di zenzero, e tu?\u201d
\nAnnalisa: \u201cI’ve used the Bach flower Rescue Remedy, and made ginger tea, and you?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cPurtroppo ho finito sia l’echinacea sia la propoli, per\u00f2 nell’armadietto dei medicinali ho ritrovato della vitamina C in gocce e sto prendendo quella. A volte prendo un po’ di paracetamolo per togliere i dolori.\u201d
\nSerena: \u201cUnfortunately I’ve finished both the echinacea and the propolis, but in the medicine cabinet I found some vitamin C in drops, and I’m taking that. Sometimes I take some paracetamol for the pain.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Annalisa: \u201cOra devo andare. Ti faccio tanti auguri. Ci sentiamo presto. Ciao!\u201d
\nAnnalisa: \u201cI have to go now. Best wishes to you. Talk to you soon. Ciao!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Serena: \u201cCiao carissima, tanti auguri anche a te e a Claudio. A presto!\u201d
\nSerena: \u201cBye my dear, best wishes to you and Claudio too. See you soon!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
